Tison Roo News 2017-18
Week of February 5th
Welcome to the Tison Middle School newsletter -- as a Tison parent, we want to ensure your involvement in your student's middle school life, and one way to do that is to keep you informed on what's going on at Tison.
This newsletter typically gets emailed to you on a weekly basis, and usually on a Friday afternoon. If you know a Tison parent who should be getting this newsletter and is not, please have him or her email Leah Greer at lgreer@weatherfordisd.com. Also, if you have any questions or concerns over any information from the newsletter, please email Mrs. Greer.
Sincerely,
Eric Sams

UIL QUAD COUNTY Academic MEET
Parents are more than welcome to come and support their student before their contest session and even check him/her out to take home as soon as he or she is done competing. If parents would like to take their student home with them instead of waiting for all events to end, then there will be a Tison sign-out sheet for parents/guardians in the cafeteria at the Tison table. Parents MUST sign-out their student at the Tison table before leaving with their student.
Eat at Buffalo Wild Wings & Support the Band!
Buffalo Wild Wings here in Weatherford will donate 10% of sales when you mention the Roo Junior Band Fan Club from now until June 1!
You do not need the flyer to get the donation for the band, you just need to mention "Team J" or "The Roo Jr Band Fan Club" and they will contribute to our kids. I have attached the flyer to this email for you to have all the details.
Thanks for all of your support!

"Start With Hello" Week
Social isolation is the overwhelming feeling of being left out, lonely or treated like you are invisible. Young people who feel this way may pull away from society, struggle with learning and social development or choose to hurt themselves or others.
Start With Hello Week brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation in our schools and communities, and empowers young people to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within their school or youth organization.
During the week of February 5–9, 2018, hundreds of schools and youth organizations across the United States will participate in Start With Hello Week and teach students, grades 2–12, the skills they need to reach out to and include those who may be dealing with chronic social isolation and create a culture of inclusion and connectedness.
In honor of Start With Hello Week, Tison will participate in the following activities each day of the week for next week:
Monday -- HEY DAY (name tags so we know names as we say hello)
Tuesday -- POSITIVITY WALL (positive notes on sticky-notes to Tison newcomers)
Wednesday -- SIT W/ NEW FRIENDS @ LUNCH (making sure no one must eat alone)
Thursday -- TABLE SCAVENGER HUNT (for the "Start with Hello" logo and steps)
Friday -- WEAR GREEN in honor of stopping the violence by people feeling alone/"Speed Friending" talk to a someone new for two minutes then move to meet another
