Welcome Back!
Greetings from Sunflower Elementary to you and your family!
We are looking forward to the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
School Supplies: Click HERE for a supply list for the upcoming school year. If you need assistance, please contact our office (913-294-8040) or email our school counselor (jeri_finson@usd368.org). We have donated backpacks and supplies that we are able to hand out.
Classroom Assignments: We know that you have been anxiously awaiting teacher and class assignments. You can look forward to looking receiving an email from your child's teacher with an introduction very soon.
You can also find your child's teacher listed in Infinite Campus under the SCHEDULE tab.

Sunflower Site Council Needs YOU and Your Ideas!
The Sunflower Elementary SITE Council is seeking individuals interested in volunteering for this advisory group.
The goal is to work with administration and staff as a committee to provide input and insight from a parent perspective in regard to school improvement.
The Site Council will meet from 5:00-5:45 on the following dates:
October 9, December 11, February 12, April 8.
If interested, please submit your information. A Site Council member will contact you in regard to participating.
Stop in to Sunflower Elementary any time between 6:00-7:00 pm on Monday, August 14. You can go directly to your child's classroom to meet the teacher and drop off supplies.
Get to know Sunflower a little better and win prizes by playing Back to School Bingo.
Water Bottles
Water bottles cannot be carried into the lunch room. Lunch beverages should be packed in the student's lunch box.
Sunflower Girls on the Run
What is Girls on the Run?
- A 10 -week after school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
- It's a place where participants learn how to celebrate being themselves by building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health.
- Each session is led by trained coaches who guide and mentor girls through a fun and uplifting curriculum. Along the way, the girls train together to walk or run a 5K.
About Sunflower’s Program
- No Running Experience Required
- Our team fills up fast-Set your alarm!! Registration opens on Saturday, August 26 @ 8am. (GOTRKc.org)
- Scholarships available online.
- Practice Days: Monday & Thursdays 3:15-4:45
- Final 5k is Saturday, November 4 at Swope Park

Lost Library Books
If you have found library books over the summer, please return them when come to Back to School Night. This will allow us to have those books sanitized and ready for checkout.
