Gould's Gossip
KEEP CALM and go to the LIBRARY
Here We Go Again...
Experiential Learning in Action!
- "I thought it was fun and got our minds working
- "It really made you think and work together with others to put your thoughts together and figure stuff out"
- "It worked our minds into learning and thinking in a different perspective."
- "It made me use problem solving skills, I had to think about what I had to do differently if my
groups first method didn't work.... I thought that since we were all active and working as a
group it felt more in depth to me than normal class. We had a goal and we used our skills to solve it."
Above are just a few student responses after experiencing their first Breakout Edu activity. The premise behind these immersive activities is that students must work together to solve a series of clues hidden around the room that allow them to complete the given challenge. Critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, content knowledge and creativity are all needed to be successful in their mission. Check out http://www.breakoutedu.com/ for premade Breakout Activities or let me know you're interested and I will find or create something to fit your curriculum.

Sharing Day
One of my 6-year-old daughters favorite days of the week is her sharing day at school, sometimes she brings in her favorite toy and on other days she shares something new or exciting that she has recently done... I am hoping that some of you will be willing to join my daughter in sharing out something exciting or new that you have done. It could be anything from a tool you learned or a literacy tip you tried, or even a classroom management strategy that you have had success with.... lets share and celebrate our successes!
If you are willing to share you can either comment below or send me a quick email... doesn't have to be much, just a sentence or two, and I will take care of the rest!
Something to Think About...
In a comprehensively networked society, the nature of knowledge itself is changing.
"As knowledge becomes networked, the smartest person in the room isn't the person standing at the front lecturing us, and isn't the collective wisdom of those in the room. The smartest person in the room is the room itself: the network that joins the people and ideas in the room, and connects to those outside of it... Knowledge is becoming inextricable from – literally unthinkable without – the network that enables it."
