French & Spanish Culture Day
On Tuesday, March 28th, Tamanend’s 9th grade French and Spanish students took part in various cultural experiences and field trips. The French students traveled to La Luna in New Falls, PA where they learned about the birth of swing dance and le rock in France. They mastered the steps of traditional swing dancing (both individually and with partners) and enjoyed a wonderful, authentic lunch of Quiche Lorraine, chicken from the Basque region, and delicious pastries. The Spanish students participated in “La Extravaganza Española” where students participated in a variety of activities such as Karaoke, tongue twisters, salsa dancing and culture enrichment through a trivia contest using Kahoot. Students enjoyed Mexican food as a culminating activity. Tamanend students, once again, demonstrated an amazing level of enthusiasm and dedication to language learning.
Jazz Band News
Last Friday evening, the Jazz Band had another amazing performance at Tohickon Middle School. The judges were truly impressed and had a lot of great compliments to give the band. The Jazz Band received their highest scores to date! They were awarded a first place, superior rating and the flute section brought back a section award for their outstanding performance. That’s two section awards for Abby, Emily, Aritro and Lily. Fantastic job. Emily also won an outstanding solo award for her work on flute and Andrew was awarded one of four overall outstanding solos heard for the entire festival for his performance on tenor sax. Congratulations, Jazz Band!
The Jazz Band can be heard performing TONIGHT at the Tamanend Jazz Festival. Also in performance will be the Symphonic Swing Ensemble. Come support your jazz-playing peers for an awesome night of jazz music at our 16th annual festival. The program starts at 6:50 with the Swing Ensemble in performance.

Throughout the year, Tamanend staff members look for examples of students showing Respect, Achievement, and Responsibility... R.oA.R. Those students are given "Tiger Tracks" tickets which students can enter into a drawing. Each Friday, Mr. Boyle draws one student's Tiger Track and announces the winner on our Tamanend Today Show. The winner can pick from a number of prizes including great coupons from Subway, Rita's, Randazzo's, Yogurt Tree, and Moe's!
The following students were recent weekly winners!
