LUNCH ORDERING CHANGES

Dear Students and Families,


November menus are about to be released on our online ordering program. With this in mind, I want to share with you a few changes, which will go into effect this month. First, we will need to adjust the “order by date” and time for all student lunch orders. Second with days off for holidays and Election Day our menus will require some accommodations for Cohort B students.


1.) To better organize our food preparation an adjustment in the “order by” day and time needs to be made. We are essentially preparing lunches for three days at a time on Mondays and Tuesdays. One lunch for delivery in school and two lunches for remote days, which are picked up at dismissal. To accommodate food preparation we need to push back our ordering schedule from the day before to three days before. I am also changing the “order by” time from 12 noon to 8 PM. Hopefully this will give you some additional time to organize your ordering and accommodate our staff needs for food preparation time .

The following example may be helpful.


Monday’s lunch, order by Friday before 8 PM

Tuesday’s lunch, order by Saturday before 8 PM

Wednesday’s lunch, order by Sunday before 8 PM

Thursday’s lunch, order by Monday before 8 PM

Friday’s lunch, order by Tuesday before 8 PM


This change will give our staff a complete list of all lunches ordered for in school delivery and dismissal pick up at the beginning of their shift. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.


This schedule change will take effect Friday October 30th.


Attention Cohort B students:


2.) To accommodate Cohort B students for lunches on November 2, 4 and 5, school menus will include a Cohort B Lunch (frozen meal) option. Cohort B students should choose Cohort B lunch for these days. Please order by Thursday October 29th before noon. Lunches for November 2, 4 and 5 will be ready at dismissal on Friday October 30th for pick up.

BHS PARKING STICKERS

Seniors and Juniors may now apply for a 2020-2021 parking sticker here: BHS Parking Sticker

This year the Assistant Principals will be delivering students parking stickers during ARC meeting times. Parking stickers will be delivered in the order in which they were received.


Please note, you will need to present a picture on your phone or a paper copy of your license and registration before receiving your parking sticker.


Once all the stickers are delivered, the police will begin monitoring and ticketing those not parked in designated student parking lots. The student parking lots are located across from the main entrance and in the parking lot next to the Library/drop off area marked "Student Parking". If you are parked in an area that is not designated student parking, you may get ticketed starting in November. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Will there be more opportunities to speak one on one about college admissions? How will counselors meet with students?

Yes- counselors have been and will continue to meet with every senior individually this fall. Meetings are in person or virtual depending on the student/counselor’s preference.

If I have SAT scores in SCOIR, will they automatically go to colleges?


No, you must send official SAT scores through collegeboard.org or official ACT scores through ACT.org


Can I attach a PDF of my resume to my SCOIR account?


Yes. Log into your SCOIR account, and click on My Profile. Scroll down, and on the left hand side, you will see My Drive where you can drop files to attach or browse to attach a PDF.


If we are not certain that we are going to be applying to a school early, should we request a transcript? Is there any consequence to submitting a transcript request and not applying to that college? Can I add colleges later on?


The most important thing is that you finalize your college list and submit your transcript requests 2 weeks before your first deadline. If you submit a transcript request for a college that you decide not to apply to, there are no negative consequences, but you will not be refunded the transcript request fee of $5 per school. However, communicating with your counselor is essential to make this process go smoothly. You can always add colleges to your list by submitting a transcript request in Scoir.


How do I assign a recommender on the Common Application?

What is a supplemental essay on the Common Application? And, how important are they?


A supplemental essay is an additional open response essay question that some colleges have on their application. These essays are very important, and not optional (even if the college indicates it is optional).


The common application has included an additional COVID-19 question. It is important to let schools know if any activities were cancelled, what you chose to do instead to fill the time during quarantine etc. Here is a guide on how to address this question. College Essay Covid-19

AP Exam Registration is now open! Students who intend to take AP exams in May 2021 must register and pay by November 6th. Please refer to the AP Student/Parent Letter and Payment Form for instructions.


Students who want to self-study for exams and are not enrolled in the corresponding AP class must email kristen_milano@bedfordps.org to get an AP Classroom code in order to register.

Order your Senior class shirt here for $15! Pay with VENMO (@classof2021-humphrey).

If paying with cash, exact change is required, checks can be made payable to the Class of 2021. With the cash or check option, please place in an envelope with your full name on it and ARC (Advisory/Remote Counseling) room number.


Mr. Humphrey will be collecting the payments in room D107, before first class and after last class. Once payment is received Mr. Humphrey will bring your shirt to one of your ARC classes. Go Bucs!

Support for Mrs. Pietrangelo and her family

As you may have heard, Ms. Pietrangelo was in a serious accident Thursday, September 10th. Many families have asked what they can do to help. Here are some specific ways you can help:

Gift Cards: the following gift cards were suggested to us by the school and her friends.

  • Arlington area restaurant gift cards (Ms. Pietrangelo lives in Arlington with her husband and two young children)

Gift cards can be mailed to the school (9 Mudge Way) or students can drop gift cards off at the student office or Mrs. Billouin’s classroom, H107.

Meals: Since the accident, the family has received a great deal of food from friends and neighbors, so meals are not currently needed. However, in the weeks and months ahead, they will likely need meals. At that time, we will post information on how you can sign up to provide meals for the family.

Employment Permits

We know that many of you are trying to secure employment permits and there are new guidelines in place so that we can help you. Download the application with the link below. Once you have the employer sign it, you must have a parent or guardian sign as well and submit a physical if under 16. Once all of the above is done, send the completed application to our Registrar, Mrs. Powell at nancy_powell@bedfordps.org and she will prepare the work permit and email it back to you.
