NATIONAL YOUTH ARTS AWARDS
The results of the 12th Annual National Youth Arts Awards for the 2016-2017 season came out last week, and the ceremony was held yesterday. Chandler High earned 6 awards and 8 additional nominations. Congratulations to CHS Theatre!
USAV YOUTH NATIONAL TRAINING TEAM
Jonny Bowles, CHS Senior and #1 pictured below, was selected to train with the USA Volleyball National Training Team in Lake Placid. At the end of camp next week, 12 players will be selected to represent the USA in the Middle East and the Kingdom of Bahrain in the U19 World Championships in late August. Congratulations and good luck, Jonny!
OPEN HOUSE
Thanks to everyone who braved the wind and rain last Thursday and attended CHS’s Open House. Special thanks to StuCo, the Wolf Pack Band, CHS Cheerleaders, Treblemakers and AFJROTC for greeting parents and giving them a glimpse of what the year has in store. If you couldn’t attend, check out Mr. Rother’s presentation.
FRESHMAN POOL PARTY
Link Crew hosted over 200 freshmen at last Friday’s pool party. Students enjoyed snacks, music, beach balls and lots of swimming. Link Crew has a number of lunch-time activities planned for freshmen this semester. We love our newest Wolves!

IB-MYP NEWS
9th grade parents interested in learning more about the IB Middle Years Program: Informational meeting in the Media Center on Tuesday, August 15 at 6:00pm. Freshmen who are taking Honors English and a World Language class are eligible to be IB MYP students.
The first IB Parent Booster meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, August 15th at 7pm in the Media Center. Parents of students in IB classes in all grades are welcome! Our guest speaker will be going over the ins and outs of PSAT, SAT and ACT testing and helping us understand who should test when and how to best prepare.

DRAMA AUDITIONS
Auditions for the fall play "The Bottom of the Lake" are Thursday and Friday 2:30-5:30 in the Drama Room. Both days are mandatory. Any CHS students may audition. It is a spooky play about ghost stories. For more information, pick up a packet in the Drama Room near the back entrance of the Chandler Center for the Arts (CCA).
DANCING WITH WOLVES
Please join us for CHS Spiritline's Dancing with the Wolves Showcase on August 19th at 7:00pm. This will be a fabulous family friendly evening with performances by CHS Teachers and students, along with other dance professionals. BOOKSTORE INFO
Need spirit wear, supplies, books, snacks, or tickets to CHS events? Susie Barthelme and Kristine Gove run the CHS Bookstore and are ready to help. The bookstore is open from 7am-3pm for parents. Students can come to the bookstore before school, after school, lunch time and during passing periods. Students should not visit the bookstore during class time unless they are accompanied by a teacher or parent or are conducting club business. Students must have their IDs to purchase bookstore items or check out textbooks.
1ST QUARTER COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS
All college visits will take place in the CHS College & Career Center, unless otherwise specified. Students should sign up outside of the College & Career Center to attend a presentation. They will receive a pass in class on the day of the presentation.
TRI-UNIVERSITY TOUR
Get excited for the Tri-University Tour! Arizona State University, Northern Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona are coming together to ensure that students and their families are well informed about the opportunities and resources available to them. As your public in-state universities, they recognize the importance of working together to help you understand the best college fit.
