Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
Report cards are available for families to view in Infinite Campus. We are including directions to access your child’s progress report.
Retrieving Students Grades on Campus Parent
Our 6th graders are organizing a fundraiser for their 6th grade party. Every year, as part of their year-end celebrations, 6th graders get the chance to buy a special t-shirt with all of their names on it. We really want every 6th grader to be able to buy a t-shirt, and we hope that this fundraiser will make the t-shirts affordable for all 6th grade families. As emerging responsible leaders, our 6th graders organize and handle all aspects of this fundraiser! The fliers below highlight a spirit week that begins the week of March 7th. Students are encouraged to donate change to support our 6th graders in their fundraising efforts.
The classes that collect the most money will win the prize of having the 6th graders complete their homework for one night.
Please complete the 5 Essentials Parent Survey. At this time, we have 10% of our families who have completed the survey. In order to obtain the results, we do need at least 20% of our families to complete the survey. Go to: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois to take the survey. Select “Parent Survey". Please see the information below for details on how to take the survey.
Let's make it a great week!
With Kindest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
Extended Day Information
Dear Parents and Guardians -
With the change to the three tier system, less bus drivers are willing or able to pick up afterschool routes for the extended day program. As such, we are postponing the start of the Extended Day spring term until after Spring Break to see if we can recruit more drivers for the Extended Day program routes. If we are successful, Extended Day will restart on March 28. We hope this will allow the drivers time to adjust to the new 3-Tier system and sign up for all the spots for all the afterschool programs.
Sincerely,
Tom Edgar, Bart Bates, Tom Bramley
Estimados padres y tutores -
Sinceramente,
Tom Edgar, Bart Bates, Tom Bramley

5 Essentials Survey Reminder
Virginia Lake would love to hear from YOU!
You have been invited to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. The information you provide will help guide improvement as we strive to inspire each student to realize their potential through the education and opportunities we provide at Virginia Lake. Your participation in this survey is voluntary but crucial. We can’t receive results from the survey unless at least 20 percent of parents respond. The more responses parents provide, the more we will know how to focus our efforts toward the improvements you want. Therefore, we have set a goal to reach an 80 percent response rate. Please help us reach our goal by completing the survey.
· Go to: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois to take the survey.
· Select “Parent Survey.”
· You may enter your email address if you would like to receive confirmation of your submission, but it is not required.
· Then enter “Cook” into the county field and “Virginia Lake” to find our school.
You will then be asked a series of questions to provide input regarding your family’s experience here at Virginia Lake. Please remember to click “submit” once you are done so your responses can be counted.
Please know that your identity and responses will be kept confidential and will not be connected
with your child. If you have multiple children who attend Virginia Lake, you may complete one survey for each child. However, only one parent per household may submit a survey for a given child. The survey closes on March 11, so please submit your responses soon!
Thank you in advance for your time and input. We appreciate you!
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
Registration for 22-23 School Year
Online student registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open. If you have not already started this process for your student(s), please visit our registration page to start this process.
Registration is the first step in getting ready for the up-coming school year. After you register your child online you need to:
Pay student fees. Our student fee webpage outlines the District’s student fee structure and the three ways fees can be paid.
If you have a student that is starting Kindergarten, entering fourth grade, or entering 7th grade, you are required to prove residency in District 15. Our residency webpage outlines the documents you will need to provide to prove residency.
All three steps of the enrollment process must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Students of families that, when required, do not prove residency, will not be able to attend class in a District 15 until the family’s residency is verified.
