Ed Cooley @ East!
From the Music Department:
The East Music Department has had a busy spring. The East and West Choir and Orchestra traveled and performed together over April break to NYC. They had the opportunity to see a Broadway show (Phantom of the Opera) and did a lot of sightseeing around Manhattan. Both ensembles earned silver medals in the PAC Big Apple Festival and the Orchestra placed second in their category and the Choir placed first.
The Cranston East Winter Percussion Ensemble ended their season on a high note, where their show Mittiesque earned 93.15 and placed second at the New England Percussion Championships! Congratulations to all of our music groups on their accomplishments!
In addition, the East Music Department will be presenting their Spring Concert, here in the CHSE Auditorium, on May 8th at 7pm. This event is free.
Congratulations!!

Teacher appreciation
As we approach the month of May and with it, the celebration of teacher appreciation day, students at CHSE had an opportunity to choose the Cranson East teacher that inspires and motives them every day.
Congratulation to Mrs. Conte, Mr. Silva, and Mrs.DiCicco our top three teachers selected by our students!! Your amazing job is making a huge difference in the lives of our students.
Please stop by the bulletin board near the nurse to read about our other nominees.
Mrs.Victoria Conte
Mrs.Conte has been part of the East faculty for 19 years.
"What I love about my job is the students - every day it brings me so much joy to be able to get kids excited about learning and science. It is awesome to have students who might not have been that successful previously in science, grow to love and enjoy it! My students are awesome and I love them!!"
Mr. Peter Silva
Mr.Silva has been a teacher at East since the 2003-2004 school year.
When asked what he loves about his job, Mr. Silva's said: "It's like asking me what my favorite Beatles' song is. That said, every day I walk into people I love deeply, including our administrators, our faculty, our staff, and especially, our students. They're the children I never got to have in life."
Mrs.Andrea DiCicco
Mrs.DiCicco student taught in the special education department in the spring of 2002 and never left.
"Teaching allows me the opportunity to interact with students from all walks of life. Even though each day presents me with unique challenges, it is the hope that through these momentary gifts of time, my words or lessons will in some way resonate with students, helping them to reach their individual dreams. I love coming to East each and every day. The faculty and students truly have made this journey a blessed one."
