Message From Dr. Parkinson Announcing Asynchronous Day

Dear Chester Upland School District Community --

This coming Friday, September 23, funeral services for Coach Larry Yarbray are scheduled to take place. Rightfully so, much of our community will gather to celebrate his life and legacy, as his impact on Chester and our sports program is undeniable. Considering those who may want to attend Coach Yarbray's funeral, Chester High School and STEM Academy will be asynchronous tomorrow, September 23. This change in learning modality will allow staff and students to pay their final respects to Coach Yarbray.

ALL other CUSD Schools will be open for in-person learning. Any student who wishes to attend the services will be excused for the day. An excusal note must be presented upon the student's return to school to be marked excused. The remaining students and staff at these schools should report to school following their normal school schedule.

As a reminder, all CUSD schools will be asynchronous on Monday, September 26.

Dr. Craig L. Parkinson, Superintendent of Schools
