The Counseling Connection with Mrs. Walsh
I hope you have spent time with your children reflecting on the previous year. It is fun to remember the good times and to decide how to change the things we may not have liked so much. Some ideas for goal setting may include: bed times, study time, exercise, eating healthier, having a more positive attitude, and even having a time to relax. This is not only a new year, but a new semester as well. Students need to focus on setting new goals. Help your children set realistic goals for both their academic and personal lives. Setting goals helps children raise their self-esteem. Building strong children today only invests in our futures. Remember there is power in the work yet.
“Write in on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

Habit 1: Be Proactive
Key Phrase: You're in Charge!
What this habit looks like in action: I am a responsible person. I take initiative. I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods. I do not blame others for my wrong actions. I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Key Phrase: I have a plan!
What this habit looks like in action: I set goals for myself. I have a plan for how I will accomplish my goals. I think about what I want to be when I grow up and how I will get there.
