KSD3 HR Corner
Monthly newsletter for our employees - September 25, 2019
Message from Dave Reinhart, Asst. Superintendent/HR Director
Kuna Colleagues:
I’ve long had the goal to provide our staff with a monthly newsletter about things that matter to you as our valued Kuna School District team.
We’re launching that today. Our goal is each month on pay day to send this newsletter: KSD3 HR Corner. The update will recap important human resources, benefits, and other news to empower you with knowledge about what’s happening.
First, I reorganized our Human Resources Team to support you -
Cheri Carr: classified hiring, negotiations
Deann Greany: benefits, substitute coordinator (Smart Find Express)
Tammy Merithew: payroll, PERSI, workers compensation claims
Cairlissa Morgan: stipends & staffing structure
Ali Schauer: Contracts, credits, FMLA, certified hiring
At the end of this newsletter are photos and contact information for each of them.
I also want this information sharing to be two-way, so please engage me about issues you care about. Send me an email at dreinhart@kunaschools.org, or call me at ext: 1207.
Thank you for all you do for our students!
Assistant Superintendent
David Reinhart
Kuna Education Association (KEA) UPDATE
Last year, in collaboration with the district, the KEA negotiated for supply money to go directly to educators. As the second year for this initiative, we’ve made a few changes. Supply checks for all certified staff will now be in September paychecks (for tax reasons) and not distributed via physical checks, so please take this into account when creating your monthly budgets moving forward from October. The district has added $15 to the checks to offset PERSI and FICA withholdings that you will incur while being included in your September paycheck, for a grand total of $115. Please contact the HR office with any issues or questions.
Additionally, there are several FREE professional development opportunities for KEA members ($100 for non-members). On Tuesday, October 8th Kuna is hosting the IEA’s Degrees not Debt class from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the KMS Library. Dinner is included! Then on Saturday, October 19th - the 2nd annual EMPOWER conference will be holding numerous PD breakout sessions such as classroom management, education law, SPED and ELL resources, and more! There’s even a special mentor track, keynote speakers, and a diverse lunch panel. Breakfast and Lunch are included. Speak with your building reps to get a flyer and more information! As always, $60 NNU Credits are available.
Substitute SmartFind Express
Please remember that all absences and time off requests for school-based staff (excluding Child Nutrition and Custodial staff) need to be entered in SmartFind Express. Check with your building administrator for more information.
Health Insurance Update
As of Sept. 1, Kuna School District has a new insurance carrier - Blue Cross of Idaho
ID cards
The new health insurance ID cards were mailed out the week of Aug. 19.
Should my dependent be listed on my new card?
Our new health insurance ID cards from Blue Cross of Idaho will only include the employee/subscriber name, they will not list the dependent names.
The employee name is all the information a provider needs to verify benefits for you and any covered dependents.
What's happening with the deductible and out-of-pocket roll over?
Blue Cross is currently rolling over the deductible and out-of-pocket amounts you previously met while covered with Regence. Your BCI account should be updated in the next couple of weeks.
If you want to make sure that your dependents are covered you can contact Blue Cross of Idaho at 1-800-274-4018, log in to the Blue Cross of Idaho site or download the Blue Cross of Idaho App. If you require urgent assistance relating to the roll over of the deductible or out of pocket please contact The Murray Group at (208) 765-2620 and ask to speak with Rebecca.
Is Walgreens Pharmacy still in our network?
Walgreens Pharmacy is in our network and prescriptions are covered with our Blue Cross Insurance.
Other questions?
If you have any other questions, contact Deann Greany at 208-922-1000 extension 1224 or dmgreany@kunaschools.org.
