Virtual Learning for In-Person Learners on Nov. 23-24; Pausing Return to Full In-Person Plans
Because of current staffing challenges related to COVID-19 and the likelihood of additional challenges securing substitutes before the Thanksgiving holiday, all Platte County School District in-person learners will attend classes virtually on Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24.
- In-person learners and families should refer to building and teacher communication about the virtual learning schedule for these days.
- Remote learners will continue their learning as regularly scheduled.
- Y Club services will be consolidated to Pathfinder Elementary and will be available from 6:30 am to 6 pm on these days for families already signed up.
- Curbside meal pickup (including 5 days of meals) is available on Monday, November 23, at PCMS and Barry locations from 11 am-12:30 pm.
- Activities and practices will proceed as planned on these days. Please refer to information provided by coaches/sponsors.
Additionally, in collaboration with our local health authorities, the District has decided to pause our phased return to full in-person learning at the secondary level. We will not proceed with the November 30 return to full in-person plans in grades 6-8. In-person learners in these grades will continue with their current alternating schedule learning scenario. We will continue to monitor our situation and collaborate with our local health authorities on our plans to return to full in-person (with a remote option) starting with second semester for all secondary learners.

Counselor's Communication
Students deepen their knowledge of mindful awareness by focusing and listening. By prompting them to stay with their observations we give children an opportunity to be fully engaged in what they are doing and to reflect upon their experiences, which bolsters their sense of self-awareness and self-control. Here are some questions you might ask your child(ren):
Describe a situation where you had to see someone else’s perspective?
How can you avoid a reactive way of thinking?
Tell a kind act you did for someone today or tell a kind act you will do for someone else tomorrow.
