"Unlock the Treasure in Every Child" - March 23, 2020
POSITIVITY PROJECT - FAIRNESS
Our focus this week will be on the character strength of Fairness.
Fairness is the product of moral judgment – the process by which people determine what is morally right and what is morally wrong. Moral reasoning has been explored and analyzed in two main traditions: the justice reasoning approach and the care reasoning approach. The the character card for Fairness to learn more.
The parent virtue for the Forgiveness is Justice. Strengths of justice refer to the optimal relationship between the individual and the group or community, rather than the more one-to-one relationships in the humanity virtue. These strengths include: teamwork/citizenship, fairness, and leadership.
Please use these quotes, video links, and character card to host conversations with your child about the character strength.
"It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself." ~Eleanor Roosevelt
"Friendship is never anything but sharing." ~Elie Wiesel
Remote Learning Resources
The Wake County Public School System believes that every student, each day, deserves access to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities. While the current circumstances that we are facing as a community, both locally and globally, are challenging and uncertain, we remain committed to this core belief.
Although we can never replace the value of the teacher-student interaction in the classroom, the Wake County Public School System will provide instructional resources and extension activities that will help students remain engaged in learning while schools are closed. These resources and opportunities will continue to evolve and grow over the course of any extended school closure.
