FFA Regionals
Our Agricultural Business team placed 1st as team! Additionally, Sadie Larson placed 4th individually, Ben Higgins 3rd, Annabelle Williams 2nd, and Lucas Valdes placed 1st individually!
In this contest, students showcase their knowledge in agricultural business by developing and presenting a business plan to a panel of judges. Additionally, there is a test to determine their business acumen.
Additionally, CHS FFA won the Veterinary Science Competition! Jordyn Taranec Placed 8th, Laura Flood Placed 5th, Isabelle Medal 4th, Hailey Hutchison Placed 3rd and Nayeli Aguirre placed 1st overall!
In this contest student demonstrate a variety of veterinary skills such as injections and how to properly restrain an animal.
Kate Rogers won the Employability Skills CDE (Career Development Event)! Armando Capaceta placed 9th overall!
In this contest students pick an agricultural job they are both interested and qualified for. They develop a resumé, cover letter and application and then interview for the job.
Our Agricultural Sales team placed 2nd at regionals! Individually, Nickole Leon placed 10th, Eva Willard placed 9th, and Jalia Reed placed 5th!
In this contest students receive an agricultural product beforehand and must prepare to sell it. There is both a phone call and individual sale with a judge to determine the winner.
Our Meat Evaluation placed 3rd at regionals! Individually Aislinn Siener placed 9th, Espei Maldonado placed 5th and Angel Rojas placed 3rd!
In this competition, students identify and evaluate cuts of meat from a variety of agricultural animals.
Last but not least, we had two 1st year members try out the Greenhand Tool ID contest for the 1st time!
Kendra Leonard placed 8th and Chance Smith placed 5th individually.
CHS Chili Cook Off
The CHS Social Committee hosted the annual Staff Chili Cook Off this past week.
Congrats to Chef Patton and Mrs. Doll on tying for first place!

Bedzin Ghetto Exhibit
CHS students sponsored the traveling Bedzin Ghetto Exhibit in the CCA from February 6-8th. This was a great opportunity for the public and our faculty and staff to learn more about life through the eyes of eight teens before, during, and after the war. Our incredible students acted as docents for this exhibit being on-hand to offer more information about the people highlighted and answer questions.

FAFSA has been delayed again, so just make sure that you've done your part so FAFSA can send your information to your schools. Financial Aid packages won't get sent out from your school until April. If you need help, here are a few great resources:

Presidential Honors Scholarship (Must have a Maricopa student account to apply):
Presidential Scholarship:
High-achieving, recent high school students have the opportunity for a deeply enriching college experience in the CGCC Honors Program.
The scholarship pays for full-time tuition for up to 15 credit hours (plus the $15 registration fee) per semester for up to four consecutive semesters.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for the Presidents’ Honors Scholarship, you must:
- Graduate from a high school in Maricopa County
- Have a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Start at CGCC within 3 academic semesters (not including summers) of high school graduation without attending another college in between (not including concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, and summer session)
- Reside in Maricopa County while on scholarship
You will need a Maricopa MEID log in and a copy of your unofficial transcript to be able to upload with the scholarship application.

- Navigate to your student's infinite campus> Log in> Documents> Unofficial Transcript> Download the document> Have it available to upload to the form when prompted.

Beginning Swim
Need a way to do cardio, but you don't want to be sweaty all day? Do you want to learn different swimming techniques? Join Beginning Swim! You can learn how to do freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke, all while you build up your endurance. You can earn .5 of your required P.E. credit with just one semester of this class.
