Fight Against Bullying

Looking at Ourselves

When you see someone you do not like or that you think is weird, it may not feel like a bad thing to make a comment about it. For various reasons like stress relief or boredom, some even take a step farther and pick on the person. It is important for us to hold ourselves accountable for our actions and put in the effort to watch what we say and do. Keep the golden rule in mind: treat people the way you want to be treated. It may sound elementary, but if you neglect to keep this in mind throughout your life, you may end up having a negative impact on the world around you.

Bullys may have one or more than one reason they bully. The most common reasons are:
  • dysfunctional family
  • a need to be in control
  • behavior rewarded
  • bully does not care about how other person feels
  • lack of ability to regulate emotions
