Greetings from Mr. Kueker

It's hard to believe that we are in the third week of September. The students and staff are in the full swing of things and working hard everyday. This is an early reminder that as the weather begins to change, please ensure that your student is dressed appropriately for the weather.

We are excited to have our Little Free Libraries back and available for families. Thank you to the Zeglin family for repairing and repainting them over the summer. More information can be found below.

For our students that are dropped off or picked up in the back of the building, a reminder that families cannot park in the staff lot and walk or pick up your student from the blacktop. This creates a safety concern while walking across the lot. Also, while dropping off, please pull forward and if you are in the yellow portion of the curb, your student may exit the vehicle. This helps to expedite the process. Thank you for your cooperation.

On Friday, students were able to bring their devices home. Only students who have elected to take their devices home and have no outstanding fees can take the MacBook home. To that end, there were packets for these students with their chargers, charging reminders and their login sheet that also have instructions for how to connect to their home wi-fi.

Next week we will have our fall picture day on Thursday, September 22. Information was sent home with your student and I included it in my previous newsletter.

Please know that we are here to help and support your child and your family. Call any time with questions or for assistance. The main office number is 630-588-6400.

Warmest regards,

Brett Kueker, Principal

While learning about plants and ecosystems, Western Trails 5th graders are literally bringing their lessons on cell structure and photosynthesis to life by growing their own vegetation. The school’s classes have contributed to planting, watering and maintaining their crop of beans, lettuce and grasses starting from seeds. As the plants sprout, students transfer them to the school’s hydroponic tower garden, which helps them to grow efficiently, using 90% less water than traditional gardening. We’re excited to see how the veggies and students’ knowledge expand this year!

The ways children engage with technology and social media platforms are constantly changing, and it’s almost impossible for parents to keep up. Whether your child interacts with technology regularly or you’re the parent of a little one, CCSD93 invites you to join us for an eye-opening parents-only evening about keeping kids safe online on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 7-8:45 p.m. Attend in person at CCSD93’s District Office, 230 Covington Drive in Bloomingdale or online at www.ccsd93.com/kkso.

During this cutting edge presentation, renowned cyber crimes expert Detective Richard Wistocki will share strategies and surprising information that will help you understand what’s going on with your child’s technology, including the following topics:
