Patriot's Pen
Week 3: September 9-13, 2019
A Message from Mireles
Four day work weeks always feel so much longer than 4 days! How about you?
This week we're back at it with five days and lots of good things planned.
Thank you for being patient as we roll out several new initiatives. From the fundraiser kick-off to David's Legacy presentations planned this week, although amazing, we understand that these take time out of instruction. We appreciate all your flexibility and promise this initial phase is almost over. Thanks for being awesome and staying positive!

Twedt's Tweet!
Congratulations on the smoothest school start ever! It is such a great feeling to walk down the halls and see our students excited about being here. I’ve had the privilege of visiting quite a few classrooms and am very impressed with the level of engagement. Thank you all for your commitment to our students! I have two very important pieces of information this week around SLO Goals and Progress Reports. Please read carefully.
Progress Reports
I can’t believe it is already time to talk about progress reports!! So here we go! First of all, every teacher is required to post 2 grades per week. By September 13th, you should have a minimum of 6 grades posted in TAC.
You must have your progress reports uploaded by 4:00 on Friday September 13. Miriam will run a report at 3:30 to see who has and who has not uploaded. You will print your progress reports on Monday September 16th for your 7th period class. DO NOT print until you receive an email from Miriam giving you the green light.
I have attached the directions for uploading grades from the NISD TAC website. You will complete page 2 before 4:00 Friday and page 4 on Monday once you receive an email from Miriam.
FINAL NOTE
Teachers, mentors, buddies, GLLs, Department Coordinators, please remember the newest members of our Patriot family and offer to assist them with the seemingly endless amount of information they are receiving with on a weekly basis. Every small act of kindness goes a long way in making them feel welcome. We have hired some amazing people, please take some time to lend a helping hand.
This week a teacher gave me a small notepad that stated, “TEAM- Together Everyone Achieves More.” It was a good reminder to me and very appropriate for the work we will be doing this year!

Congratulations Ms. Bunn!
She is always smiling and willing to help even when she is busy. She is someone you can go to for help with technology- it’s like we have our own Technology IST on campus! She single handedly started our live streaming of announcements, which are AMAZING! She shows her students daily that even she is a lifelong learner. Congratulations Michelle on your being Super Hero of the Week!!!
- Thank you, Russell, for the amazing work in the 7th grade courtyard! He has put in countless hours into our memorial for Emily and maintaining the grass without anyone asking him to. He has a huge heart for kids and the drive to keep our campus looking pristine. Keep up the good work! ~Audrey Abell
