Spring is Just Around the Corner!

Important Dates

3/2 Read Across America Day celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday. Which book is your favorite?


3/10 Daylight Savings Time- don't forget to move your clocks forward an hour!


3/14 Celebrate math on Pi Day. Eat Pie. Play with math. Memorize 10 or even 100 digits of Pi.


3/15 The Ides of March. Julius Caesar famously said, "Beware the Ides of March."


3/17 It's St. Patrick's Day! What special tradition happens to the Chicago River?


3/19-4/8 March Madness. College basketball fans- who do you think will win?


3/20 Vernal Equinox. It's the official first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.


3/20 Purim begins at sunset. This is a time of feasting and merrymaking for people of the Jewish faith. They give gifts to one another and help those who are less fortunate than themselves.

Reading Olympics

Reading Olympics is a reading program for fifth graders. Each team of three reads nine books. The winning team of their school competition goes on to the district competition. The final competition for this school year will be Tuesday, March 19th. Good luck to all of the teams! Read On!
