- He was born into musical labor as a slave in late 1867 early 1868 in Northeast Texas U.S. He and a bunch of friends joind together and started to create music from already popular music.
- He created 44 ragtime pieces. He died from turning insain in a mental institution on April 1, 1917 in New York City
- Joplin and his fellow ragtime composers rejuvenated American popular music, fostering an appreciation for African American music among European Americans by creating exhilarating and liberating dance tunes, changing American musical taste. They say he made music fun and upbeat for everyone to love and injoy.
