Thesis Statement

· Citizens should be allowed to live in freedom by demonstrating by not having to participate in tradition and being able to be different.

"Harrison Bergeron" "The Lottery" Summary

· In “Harrison Bergeron” and “The lottery” both have unfair governments which makes it hard for the people in the stories to live in. Harrison tries to rebel against the government to make everyone equal. Mrs. Hutchinson tries to fight against being chosen for the lottery because of the unfairness of the drawing.

Quote/Analysis "Harrison Bergeron"

Quote: “They weren't only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way” (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. pg1).

Analysis: This supports my thesis because it’s saying how all people have to be equal.

Quote/Analysis "The Lottery"

Quote: "It isn't fair, it isn't right," Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and then they were upon her” (Shirley Jackson pg7).

Analysis: This supports my thesis that they shouldn’t have to do the lottery because Mrs. Hutchinson dies.

I think it would be better if the citizens were able to be free because then they would be able to express themselves and do more things that could be good for the community. Looking to the future elections I hope for Bernie Sanders to win so we can have free college. I'm scared that Donald Trump might win because i think he's more of a business person than a president type.
