Spring into Google
Spring break is just around the corner and our March Google online classes are already uploaded in Eduphoria. We have added 2 brand new Google classes to the 7 we are already offering. In the Google Sites course, you will learn how to create websites that you can use in your classroom and share with parents. In Google Drawings, you will learn how to create banners, graphics, and student-centered activities that your students will love.
Google is the perfect tool to help you as you work to personalize learning in your classroom. Using Google allows students to have voice and choice in their learning.
We are just finishing up our February Google online courses and will be delivering Google Roadmaps and badges soon. Not on the Google Roadmap? There is still plenty of time for you to join the more than 500 Promise 2 Purpose Investors who have already started their journey.
Use the Google Checklist to see where you are on your Google journey. March classes are already available in Eduphoria. Digital Learning is offering online beginning, intermediate, and advanced Google courses March 8 — March 27. Click HERE for a complete listing of these courses.

Important Information
Google Drive App
If you were using the oh-so-useful Google Drive App, you may have (or will) receive this message. You cannot “Install Drive File Stream” using the button in the message.
But not to worry…our technology folks installed the NEW Google File Stream app on all of our computers through the updates (Thursday, February 16th), so all you have to do is find it on your computer, open it, and log in. Here’s a quick video to show you steps below.
And here are the steps in print.
- Click the little magnifying glass in your taskbar and search for “File Stream”, and then click on it. If it doesn’t appear, you may need to restart to get the updates.
- When the program opens, you will log in with your KISD Google credentials (your email and secret password).
- Once you log in, your File Explorer screen will pop up, and you will see the New Google File Stream in the Quick Access links.
- If you also still see the old Drive App, right-click and “Unpin from Quick Access.
Add the district class code and article from Lindsay about it to get more information.
Second Faculty Email Address in Google
Some faculty members may have discovered that they now have a 2nd Google account ending with "@hs.kleinisd.net". The IT Department has shared that the @hs.kleinisd.net accounts are demo accounts used in the district’s development environment for Identity Management (IDM).
- They are not functional accounts but are used to test scenarios and configurations in IDM, the larger system that connects multiple data systems and the Klein Dashboard.
- Not all teachers have the non-functioning accounts, but some do.
- There is not a way to hide the teacher accounts with @hs.kleinisd.net as a whole, but teachers who are having difficulty with students sharing items or emailing to these accounts instead of their functional @kleinisd.net email accounts can submit a help desk ticket to have the @hs.kleinisd.net account removed.
- Teachers who have these accounts but do not wish to file a help request to have the account removed should be sure to remind students of their functional account ending in @kleinisd.net.
Doerre Reminders:
- Please make sure when you are composing an email or forwarding one that you include KISD in the subject box.
- Students should not bring their computer chargers to school all charging should be done at home. The Warrior Repair Center has almost 20 unclaimed chargers of students who have misplaced them.
- If you haven't added your SAMR lesson to the Pineapple Tribe please do so you have until the end of March to sign up.
