#11 Covid19 Notice
20 August 2021
Dear Parents, Whānau and Caregivers
Following the government's announcement this afternoon, Paparangi School will remain closed until midnight on Tuesday. Like you, I am disappointed we will be staying at L4 for a little longer, but I am impressed by how well our team of 5 million is responding to the current situation! And with three cases located in Wellington, it's time for all of us to do our part really well. Let's stay home, keep safe and be kind!
A special message to our parents and care-givers who are essential workers! We thank you for your mahi and helping to keep our community safe as Alert Levels changed.
What follows is an update to let you know where we are at with our preparations for learning at home during Alert Level 4. We are taking daily guidance from the Ministry of Education and like you, we are closely following the MOH briefings which are also informing our next steps.
Learning at home survey - open now
A big paki paki for everyone who has completed the survey already! So far 110 people have filled it in - for 45% of our students. Please remind friends to fill it out too.
The survey closes at midday on Saturday 21 August. All families MUST submit a response. If your children are in different teams please fill out a different form per child. If they are in the same team, add their names together on the same form. Thank you for your support in gathering this information.
Go the green button or go to https://forms.gle/SbDCDitzkAWzKfsC6 to complete the survey.
What are our plans?
Learning at Home starts on Monday
Teams already have or will be in touch about their plans very shortly, in preparation for starting learning at home programmes on Monday. Our main message for parents is to just do what you can! We understand that every family situation is different, so our learning at home programmes are designed to be flexible. For those of you with tamariki in more than one team, you can mix and match activities between teams from the ideas that are offered.
Teams will let you know the times when they available to answer questions from parents as well as their timetable for staying in contact with the children themselves. There will also be non-contact times when teachers are in team or staff meetings.
Our learning at home plans won't look the same as a traditional school day at Paparangi. However, they do provide students with age-appropriate home learning options and specific tasks that are directly related to the curriculum. The learning at home plan will follow the school timetable; Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, but there is lots of flexibility in order to meet the needs of families.

We will continue to communicate with you over the coming days. Our focus as always is to support the learning, safety and wellbeing of our tamariki and staff and we continue to be here to support all our parents as well.
