Happy Wednesday!
This is a short week, but we still have a few important events. On Thursdays, we always have Mass at 9 AM with our wonderful new priest, Father Wichert. Join us if you can. Also, this Thursday is the Back to School Night event. It begins at 6 pm in the auditorium, followed by information sessions with your child's teacher(s). You will find out more about curriculum, volunteering, the Parent Service Club, and so much more. Please join us for this important ADULTS only event. Don't forget to scroll down to check out all upcoming events.
Have a fantastic week and enjoy the sunshine!

Cross Country - Volunteers Needed
CYO Cross Country is starting soon and volunteers are needed to help Coach Freeman walk the kids back and forth to Lincoln High School for practice. If you would like to volunteer, you will need to take a Virtus class (see information below) and contact Coach Freeman at LeroyFreeman82@gmail.com or 253.355.5973 or Eric Westby, our CYO coordinator at CYO@hrrsjda.org. Do You Want to Volunteer?
If you are planning to volunteer around the school or on field trips this year, you will need to attend a Safe Environment class. The Archdiocese of Seattle has changed to Virtus from Setanet. Virtus seems to be more user friendly, will track and notify people when it is time for a renewal, and allows people to do the online renewal every three years instead of annually. Here is info about how to register for upcoming classes, The next class is coming up at St. Charles in Tacoma THIS WEDNESDAY, Sept. 9th from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.Please register at: http://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/
**Click on register, "Begin the Registration Process", type "Seattle Archdiocese" in the drop down menu, and follow the directions for creating a user name.
Anyone volunteering at the school must have this class. If you need additional info, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Colleen Thomson at casmt@comcast.net, Spirit Gear Orders!!
Spirit Gear order forms are in from Ink, Inc. They will go home in this week's Wednesday envelope. Please place your cash or check (Payable to Ink, Inc.) in the envelope, along with your order and send it back to the office. These orders will take a while to fill, so please be patient. Until they arrive, your student is able to wear last year's Spirit Gear or a Seahawks shirt/jersey.
Students Arriving on Time!! Good News for Everyone.
I have been impressed by students arriving on time to school this year. This is very important for not only your child, but also the rest of the students in the class. It is very disruptive to students and teachers when children arrive late. So, thank you for making sure to get your child to school on time. Drop off time is 7:45 at the front (Pre-K 3 & 4) or at the safety square (K - 8). School begins promptly at 8 am. Just one more note: Children CANNOT be left at the school earlier than 7:45.
Free/Reduced Breakfast and Lunch - Make Sure to Return Your Forms!
Any child who has received state services such as Basic Food or TANF automatically qualifies for free meals this year. If you qualify based on your income, we will be sending out and processing those applications in early September. Applications went home in last Wednesday's envelope! Please return them as soon as possible.
Please be aware that, until you are qualified, if you choose to engage in the breakfast/lunch program, you may be billed for the meals. Billings go out the beginning of the following month.
