Micro Elementary Parent Newsletter

Message from Principal Parrish
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that the first half of the year has flown by! It has been a busy and productive first semester. Our goal is to finish the year out strong. Please communicate with your child's teacher regularly. If you have a question or suggestion, let us know. We want to be our best for your child! A great way to help your child grow is by reading with them and helping them find ways to read for fun. Students who are well-read and read for fun are more likely to succeed in school.
Thank you!
Mr. Parrish

- Our goal was to meet with each parent during the first half of the school year. Contact your child's teacher to set up a conference if you have not already done so.
Would you like to volunteer? Contact our school counselor, Mandy Yelverton, if you are interested in volunteering. MandyYelverton@johnston.k12.nc.us or 919-588-4300.
Micro Clubs: We have started Student Clubs here at Micro! On early release days and the days before student holidays, we hold club meetings. The clubs are based on student interests. So far we have met once and the clubs seemed to be a hit with our students. Our next club day is December 21st.

Our school has two Wildly Important Goals that we will focus on as a school.
1. Help students develop a love of reading.
2. Provide students with meaningful and personalized learning experiences.
Research shows that students who enjoy reading are more successful in school. We also want to provide our students with "real world" learning experiences that make content come alive.
