May 14, 2021

Dear Families,

Can you believe we have reached the middle of May? It seems like only yesterday, we were preparing for the start of the school year. Now our attention has turned to celebrating the accomplishments of the year and hosting online, interactive celebrations.

On Wednesday, we posted information about summer school on Seesaw. The full catalogue outlines the unique offerings we are providing to students this summer. In addition to our academic programing with the theme of "Finding Voices," students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge base in creative way. Through partnerships with HABLA, The Warehouse Project and Gallery, The Little Read Schoolhouse, Opportunities for All, and other providers working in conjunction with SD 104, we are confident students will enjoy summer school.

The summer school program will be delivered in two 4-week long sessions. Session I will begin on June 8, 2021 and end on July 2, 2021. A two-week intermission will take place and then summer programming will resume on July 20, 2021 and end on August 13, 2021. Student may participate in either or both sessions.

Each session will be divided into an AM and a PM schedule. Core curricular areas will be taught in the morning from 8:00 – 11:00. Students who will remain on campus will have a lunch, recess and transition time between 11:00 and 11:45. PM programming will be focused on elective areas and will begin at 11:45 and students will be dismissed at 2:45.

Parents may sign their children up for both the morning academic session and choose from a menu of elective programming in the afternoon or either the morning or afternoon session.

Be sure to review the class offerings, and sign your child up today. You won't want to miss out on this amazing opportunity.

All the best,

Ms. Amanda Venegonia, Principal

Mrs. Sara Leone, Associate Principal

Summer Reading

With the end of school quickly approaching, we would like to offer some reading suggestions over the summer. Students have made great progress this year, and we want them to continue to read throughout the summer. Consider setting aside time each day for independent reading or reading as a family. Looking for a good book? We've linked suggestions for you below. To quote author, Margaret Fuller, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
