The Extra Mile
Going the extra mile to support your son on his extra mile.
A note from the Ms. Phillips
Dear Parents,
It was a great week to end September!!! I would like to take a moment to thank Megan (Reshawn's mom) for cordinating for our first Classroom Event, along with Claudia (Sebatian G.'s mom) who assisted with the festivities. It was a great success the boys loved it!!! I would also like to thank all the parents who helped by donating items. From all of us to you thank you for everything!
Five weeks under our belts and we have some great progress to show for it. We have two new students that have joined us this week. Our two biggest goals for the rest of the quarter is AR, getting our classroom library up and running, and the school-wide Book-it Program.
AR letters will be sent home Monday. This lets you know your son's level and what level books your child can read. If he reads books that are lower than his level they will not count as his progress. However, if he chooses to read more difficult books he can, it will only enhance his vocabulary as we learn together.
The Classroom Library will begin to be built. We will start order books from Scholastic and work with them to build our in-class library. Feel free to donate books your child has already read as other children may not have had the opportunity to read them.
Lastly, Franklin Academy - Sunrise will be participating in the Book-it Program this year. The program officially begins on Oct 1. Please check the class website for full details on how your child can earn great prizes for simply reading his favorite books.
Thanks again,
Ms. Phillips
