Third Grade Thoughts

Weekly news from Glenhope 3rd grade! (Volume 15-16, Issue 7)

Thank you to everyone who came to our student-led conferences this week. Children were so excited to share their goals and learning with you. Your support is crucial so THANK YOU!

Sportsmanship

Unfortunately, we have had several issues on the playground lately at recess with unsportsmanlike behavior. Some examples include: making rude comments, kicking other people's legs (purposefully) during soccer, and not allowing others to play a game.

We would appreciate if you discussed sportsmanlike behavior with your child. We want everyone to have fun playing at recess!

Progress Reports

6 week progress reports were ready for you to view on Wednesday of this week. You should be able to access your child's progress report using their iPad. Please follow these steps:

1. Go into the Google Drive app

2. At the top, next to the words "My Drive," click the three lines

3. Click on "Shared with Me"

4. Click on the folder that says your child's name and SBRC (ex: Hayes, Christina SBRC)

5. This will open up your child's report card folder. One document inside the folder is a rubric that explains each standard and the other document is the progress report/report card

**please remember that your child is expected to have these standards met by the end of 3rd grade. Some skills take a long time to build and develop! If your child is not making adequate progress, we will let you know.

Growth Mindset: Training Your Brain Muscle!

Take a look at this video that explains growth mindset in an easy way to kids. How amazing it is when students realize they can become smarter if they train their brain!
Growth Mindset Video

Oh, the places we'll go as a 1:1 campus

We cannot stress enough with you the importance of making sure your child charges their iPads every night. For the second week in a row, we are having student iPads dying in the middle of class because they have not been charged.

Students need to understand this is their responsibility, so unfortunately if their iPad dies during school, they will be unable to charge it. We hope this natural consequence will help them remember to charge their iPads in the future!
