The Beginning of Soccer

During the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC, in China people dribbled leather balls kicking it into a small net. It is said that early growth of modern soccer started in England. It has a vivid and interesting history in the world of sports.

Timeline History

-5000-300 BC China's military force played a game that involved kicking a leather ball stuffed with fur into the hole which was called "Tsu Chu."

-1331-1424 King Edward the III and King James of Scotland passed laws to ban the game of soccer.

-1500-1620 Italy, Alaska, Canada, and North America were also interested in the game of soccer.

- 1815 Eton College established rules for the games.

- 1820 In USA, football was played among the Northeastern universities and colleges of Harvard, Princeton, Amherst and Brown.

-1888 Introduction of the penalty kick

- 1900 Soccer played at the Olympic Games for the first time.

-1904 the Federation Internationale de Football Association was created

- In 1930 The first world cup was held in Uruguay with 13 teams

- 1991 Women played their first world cup in China and was one by the United States.

How is soccer Famous now

In the 2006 World Cup which held in Germany about 715.1 million people watched the World Cup Finals. At the FIFA World Cup 2010 at least 1 billion people watched the finals. In the 2014 World Cup one billion people watched the World Cup Finals.
