News from Sundling Junior High
October 31, 2022
Principal Message
It has been a busy month of October, and there have been so many great things happening at our school over the past few weeks. Our fall sports have concluded, and our student athletes grew and developed their skills over the past few months; some receiving district or tournament plaques to showcase their efforts and talents.
Congratulations to all of our 7th & 8th grade students on their hard work and efforts to finish the first quarter of school. I especially want to acknowledge those students that earned a 4.0 GPA and made the Principal's List, as well as those that worked hard to earn Honors and High Honors with high achievement grades. We will be sending certificates home with students to recognize their accomplishments very soon!
Thank you to our WRS PTA and the Sundling Staff for supporting the recent Black & Orange Social last week. Our students had a great time watching movies, playing basketball and bags in the gym, playing board games, hanging with friends, taking pictures at the photo booth, and much more. This was a great opportunity for students to hang out with friends and socialize at an after school event. We look forward to working with our WTS PTA to great more of the opportunities in the future.
As we continue into the 2nd quarter of school, continue to stay focused, stay positive, and work hard! As we swiftly move through the first half of the school year, and prepare for upcoming conferences at the end of November, it is always a great time to sit down with your child(ren) and review current grades, progress, and goals; and revise and update as needed!
This is a good time to send a reminder that due to the colder outside temperatures and fluctuating temperatures in the building, it is important to dress appropriately for the bus stop and school day. Dress warm, and wear layers when necessary!
As always, we thank you for your continued support of our school and staff!
Happy November!!
Thank you to everyone,
Jason Dietz

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES 11/21 & 11/22
Walter R. Sundling Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 21st from 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 22nd from 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. We will be offering parents IN PERSON conferences this year. Students are encouraged to attend the conference with the parent(s). * Please note that Parent/teacher Conferences are not required.
Look for further information and links to sign up online for teacher conferences using SignUp Genius during the week of November 7th.
Please note that each conference is scheduled during a fifteen minute block of time. We only have a certain number of conferences available during the designated days, and they will fill up quickly. If a conference time is not available, work with your child's teaching team to find an alternative day/time or method of communication to discuss your child’s progress.
It is our belief that the best chance for student success comes from collaboration with all the student’s teachers. As a result, we will make our best effort to have as many of your child’s teachers present at your conference as possible. We encourage your student’s attendance at this conference, as we feel that his/her role in the process is crucial to improvement and success.
For your convenience, please note that Sundling teachers are available to address concerns via email and phone conferences, as well.
Veterans Day at Sundling
The time is approaching when our thoughts turn to Veterans Day; a day devoted to honoring the men and women who gave a part of their lives to serve our country. As a tribute to those Veterans, the Sundling staff would like students to participate by inviting Veterans to our annual Veterans Day Breakfast.
This will be held at Sundling Junior High on Friday, November 11th, beginning at 7:35 am and lasting until approximately 9:00 am. This occasion, for the student and Veteran, will include the following:
Welcome coffee and donuts
Performance by Sundling students
Veterans sharing one memory of their service (optional)
Please complete the RSVP Google form to confirm HERE to confirm your attendance at this special event. In the past, this has been a very popular event, so due to limited space, please send in your reservation early. We look forward to sharing this very special day with you.

Please share the linked flyer and help us spread the word far and wide!
WRS Intramural Permission Form 2022/23
In order for students to participate, parents will need to complete the online form below. This form will need to be completed for any intramural sport (but once completed, will cover the entire school year), so it would be a good idea to complete and submit even if you think your child may want to participate.
We look forward to getting our winter season programs up and running very soon!
WRS Family Assistance
If you are someone who is in need of community resources, please fill out this form. After you have completed and submitted it, one of the social workers will reach out to assist you.
