This Week At SHOJ
May 21, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
What a blessing this week has been - celebrating the 8th graders! Along with the celebrations, there are changes and transitions during this time.
We can't thank Mrs. Nelson enough for her 9 years of service at SHOJ. We know that she won't be a stranger and that she will continue to impact lives of students in her next chapter. Mrs. Tinker will be full time counselor with her practice - she has touched many lives while teaching here and was a true lifesaver for everyone during the last two school years. Miss Boone is off to life adventures with her upcoming marriage and her new chapter. Her time with us has strengthened our music skills and our appreciation for the beauty it brings. Thanks to these people for leaving SHOJ better than when they came.
Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Cindy Reynolds as our music teacher. Mrs. Reynolds has 20 plus years classroom room and music experience. She is very involved in her parish, Holy Angels and is excited to be part of a Catholic School. Mr. Craig Whalen will be joining us as a 5th grade teacher. He has recently taught at Clear Creek as a tech/STEM teacher and before that as a 5th grade teacher for several years. He is a parishioner here and is excited to bring his faith to the classroom. Finally, Mrs. Alisha Caton will be joining our 4th grade team. She recently taught at Xavier Catholic School and has dreamed of teaching in her parish's school.
As a reminder, Mrs. Meidinger is moving to middle school to join the ELA team with Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Hess. This time of year is always exciting as we plan for making SHOJ a better school! Change is hard but change is good!
May 24 Field Day pray for nice weather - Hot Dog lunch provided for everyone (rain or shine); free dress day - middle schoolers refer to Mrs. Hess' email (all students must wear a short sleeved tee shirt, no leggings, shorts must have a 4 inch inseam for grades 5 and up)

8th Graders Last full Week at SHOJ
8th graders and their parents attend a dinner the night before graduation. They select a teacher to speak about their years at SHOJ and watch a video of all the students in the class.
Graduation day begins with Mass and ends with a ceremony that evening. In addition to diplomas, there are student speakers and awards.
Traditional Send Off
After the graduation Mass, the 8th graders return to the school and take a final walk through the halls of SHOJ lined with all the students cheering them on. In the courtyard, they celebrate the house winner from the school year.

No new positive Covid cases or quarantines this week!
I am planning to send all prescription and non-prescription medications, inhalers and epi pens home with students on the last day of school. If your student will not be here on the last day or you would like to pick it up yourself, please reach out to me ASAP to make arrangements. If I do not hear anything, I will send all medications home with your child on Wednesday, May 26th.
We made it through a full year of school during a global pandemic! Thank you for all of your help and cooperation in making it such a happy and healthy school year at SHOJ!
