Art Classes

The FCI 6th Grade Band and Orchestra Programs WANT YOU! You have an exciting opportunity to participate in band or orchestra next year at Fall Creek Intermediate. Participants will learn how to read music and how to play the instrument of their choice. Classes will meet everyday at FCI from 2:05-2:45 next year.

All 5th graders will receive information about both programs in their general music classes after Spring Break when the directors will visiting to talk and demonstrate all of the instruments! Music teachers and Paige’s music personnel will be at FCI during the school day the week of May 2, 2016 to fit all interested students to an instrument. In order to attend a fitting session, students must return the permission form that will accompany their information packet.

Permission forms are due back to your homeroom teachers by Friday 4/29/16. These will be passed out during general music on the day of the demonstrations. Demonstration dates will vary depending on your child’s team. By signing the permission form you are not committing to the program, but just allowing your student to come down and try out the instruments! You never know what hidden talent these young musicians possess!

A mandatory parent meeting will be held on Monday 5/23/16 at 7:00pm to discuss important details about the FCI band and orchestra programs as well as information on obtaining an instrument for your student. We hope to continue the tradition of excellence that these two programs have established.

Grab your friends and don’t miss out on all of the fun! COME BE IN BAND OR

It's that time of year again!

The Riley Classic has arrived! Students are invited to watch the 5th grade teachers play against the 6th grade teachers in this after-school basketball game on April 28th from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Students must pay $5.00 to stay afterschool as a fundraiser for Riley Hospital for Children. If students would like to donate any additional money to Riley, they are more than welcome to do so.

At The Riley Classic, students will have an opportunity to purchase “Red for Riley” sweatbands, headbands and bracelets as well as enter a raffle for a chance to participate in a shoot-out to win differing prizes for $1 each. Students can also bring money for concessions.

Starting after Spring Break, students will receive a permission slip to participate in the event that will need to be returned to their homeroom teacher by April 27th.

If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Renick in Room 612 or contact by e-mail at jrenick@hse.k12.in.us. Looking forward to an incredible opportunity to raise money and awareness for Riley Hospital!

Fall Creek Fit Falcons Club

Our first practice will be Tuesday, April 19. All students will meet in Mr. Renckly’s room after school at 2:50 to begin practice. Practices will run from 2:50-3:45. Please have your parents ready for pickup at 3:45 in the main parking lot. You will need to bring weather appropriate clothing to each practice because our main goal is to run outside each day. In addition, please bring a water bottle to every practice since we will be running outside.

As your coaches we would like to say thank you for being a FIT FALCON! We are looking forward to preparing you for the race!
Permission slips are outside the counselors office and on the website.

Many thanks to Lisa Graff for coming and sharing her talents with FCI! Her presentation was engaging and the students really enjoyed it! She signed copies of the books that were purchased in advance and also gave each student a signed bookmark. Happy reading!

6th Grade Creating Positive Relationships Class

The Creating Positive Relationships (CPR) Program will be taught to the 6th graders at our school the week of May 16, 2016. This program focuses on teaching our children a whole-person health curriculum on the advantages of postponing sexual involvement until marriage. Basic skills in good decision-making and goal setting are taught, in addition to the possible consequences of sexual activity.

The Creating Positive Relationships organization knows parents are busy and hope this new format will allow you to join them in the comfort and convenience of your own home. They also trust that you will find them to be a resource as you work to develop a healthy relationship with your pre-teen. This webinar will equip you with ideas, skills, and direction for opening up communication with your child.

There are also pre-recorded webinars online if you are unable to make the live webinar. However, they will not show the video due to copyright laws. If parents are interested in viewing the video they can call the Creating Positive Relationships office at 317-846-0386 to schedule a viewing time.

State Park Passes @ the Library

With temperatures finally on the rise, thoughts are turning to the great outdoors and exploring all that Indiana has to offer. In honor of the state’s bicentennial, the Indiana State Library has now provided each library with a state park pass for loan to library cardholders.

When you are ready to hit the trail, simply stop by the Adult Services desk at either the Fishers or Noblesville Library and check for availability. Due to high demand, the passes will be available on a first come, first served basis, with no holds or renewals available. Passes can be checked out for up to 7 days.

Like other library materials, if passes are returned after the due date, late fees will apply. If passes are lost, a full replacement cost will be assessed. For further information, check out the library’s website at hepl.lib.in.us.

Immunization Requirements

Fifth Grade Parent/Guardian:

The Indiana State Department of Health requires additional immunizations for students in 6th grade. These requirements will apply to your current 5th grade student for the next school year. Even though your student is up to date for this school year, two additional vaccines are necessary for entry into 6th grade. Your child will be eligible for the immunizations when they are eleven years of age.

Completing these immunizations during the school year is your best option as physician’s offices and health departments are extremely busy during the summer months. The state required 6th grade immunizations are as follows:

· One meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine

· One Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) booster

The state requires the school to have documentation that every student entering 6th grade has received the state required vaccines prior to the start of school. After your child receives the required 6th grade vaccines, please send a copy of the updated immunization record to Fall Creek Intermediate.

Updated immunization records can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or hand delivered to Fall Creek Intermediate, Attention Jamie Weber/School Nurse. Please contact Jamie Weber/School Nurse at jweber@hse.k12.in.us with any questions or concerns.

Students Nominate a Teacher of the Month for Current Newspaper
