Principal Notes
Dear Wausau School District Parent/Guardian,
Once again the Wausau School District is able to provide families who are lacking adequate internet connectivity with a US Cellular Hotspot. To obtain a Hotspot, a parent or guardian will need to complete and return a WiFi Hotspot Contract. Once a completed contract is received by your child’s school, a hotspot can be checked out from your child’s school library.
Key Points:
Hotspots are for school work and instruction only - no personal use
They are filtered in the same manner as school-issued devices
Hotspots can be checked out for the entire school year
They must be returned in good working order, damage free, and with all components
Damaged and unreturned hotspots will result in a fee of $99.00
Missing charging components will result in a fee of $25.00
If you are interested in obtaining a US Cellular Hotspot, please contact your child’s school or return a completed WiFi Hotspot Contract to your child’s school.
Thank you,
Wausau School District Administration

Masks and Face Coverings
As of June 8, 2021, the policy in the Wausau School District states that masks and face coverings are optional in all district buildings.
Social Distancing
All students will be offered an in-person spot at their home school. Social distancing will not be followed in most situations.
Cohorting
Students will not be cohorted during the 2021-2022 school year.
Sick Students, Staff, and Visitors
Students, staff, and visitors who have symptoms of infectious illness, such as influenza or COVID-19, should stay home and be referred to their healthcare provider for testing and care.
Attendance
All students will attend their home school in-person. Those students who wish to remain virtual will need to enroll at WAVE.
When quarantined, students are expected to continue learning by completing lessons and classroom work. Teachers will continue to make daily lessons and classroom work available through Itslearning or Seesaw and will be available for support.
Quarantining
Those who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate. Marathon County Health Department will contact all positive cases.
Marathon County Health Department will also implement all quarantines.
Contact Tracing
Marathon County Health Department will conduct all contact tracing.

Wausau School District is participating in the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year. This means that our school provides free meals to all students! This program provides additional support and flexibility for our district to continue serving meals to children while maintaining safety measures and managing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Included in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product availability shortages. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverage products normally provided to students may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. We ask for patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of your children.
Menus and nutritional information are always posted on our district website: https://www.wausauschools.org/departments/nutrition-services
Please contact me with any questions at 715-261-0805 or email me at kfochs@wausauschools.org.

PTO NOTE
Hello Hewitt Texas families!!!
Welcome back to what is gonna be a great and awesome year!
I just want to give you a quick PTO update! We are having a Harvest Dance! The planning has already begun, so please mark your calendars for November 5th from 5:30 to 7:30!
We will be selling Butter Braids again this year… more details for that to come.
We will be asking for volunteers to do a pot luck for our teachers during conference nights.
We hope to have a Winterfest and do a lot of the fun traditional PTO things we've done in the past!
This year we have changed the meeting times to be held directly after school. We are hoping that may encourage some of you who pick up children to just pop into the meeting for a little bit! We are planning to have childcare for most of those meetings. As always we ask that you reach out with any questions or concerns or if you would like to volunteer!
Let's have a great year!
