Types of Eating Disorders

There are different types of eating disorders related to the adolescent age group such as: bulimia and anorexia. Bulimia is defined by people consuming large amounts of food (binge) and then trying to rid themselves of the food and calories (purge) by fasting, excessive exercise, vomiting, or using laxatives. Whereas anorexia is a serious physical and emotional illness in which an abnormal fear of being fat leads to very poor eating habits and dangerous weight loss.

Who is Most Susceptible to Eating Disorders?

The most likely age who is most susceptible to becoming victim of eating disorders is young to middle aged adolescent girls. The reasoning behind this is because of peer pressure. This also usually occurs during puberty for most girls. This time of change with a girl's body causes a lot of stress and confusion on the girl.

The best and most effective way to treat eating disorders is by going to a treatment facility. There they will help to find the main problem and cause of the eating disorder.
