New Member Spotlight on Danielle Dobies
- Who recommended you to join JJWL? Why did you choose to join?
Kelly Burr introduced me to JJWL (thanks Kelly!) and I chose to join because I could tell from the very first meeting that it was a very dynamic group of women who really worked hard to make the community better. I had been searching for a group to get involved in and JJWL seemed like a perfect fit!
- Tell us a little about yourself-work, family, etc.
I've lived in Jackson since 2013 and spent 7 years in Chicago prior to that. I’m recently married and work as a Project Manager and Training Developer for a consulting company. I have a Pug named Sir Woof and a cat named Frank!
- What’s the best book you have read lately?
I just finished “After You” by JoJo Moyes. I’ve read all of her books, they are addicting!
I also just read “Why Motivating People Doesn’t Work, and What Does.” by Susan Fowler. It’s a great read for anyone in charge of managing other people.
- Where’s your favorite place to go in town-whether meeting friends for dinner,
taking the family out on an outing, or spending a date night with your significant
other?
My husband and I spend a lot of time downtown and we like hanging out at Grand River Brewery, Bella Notte or Chase. There’s great food in this city. We also just bought a house close to Cascades Park, so I spend a lot of time walking the trails in the summer.
- What are you most looking forward to this holiday season? What kind of family traditions do you incorporate?
Since I am newly married, my husband and I are working on creating our own traditions, but we do plan to host a lot of the holiday get togethers on both sides of our family. I’m looking forward to some time off of work!
- What are your hobbies and interests?
I love to read, cook and be active. I can usually be found at the YMCA trying a new workout class or in the kitchen inventing new ways to trick my husband into eating healthy food.
