Welcome to Fifth Grade!
Classroom Expectations
During the first few weeks of school, our class thought about what kinds of leaders we wanted to be and what reputation we wanted our team to have. From that conversation, we were able to draw up our Leadership Contract. This contract outlines the promises that we each will keep as we work together this school year. Ms. Antoinette and Ms. Victoria work extremely hard to ensure that students are keeping their promise to our community and so far, they are not disappointed! You can support our leadership contract by checking in with your student about how their day was, as well as using some of the language provided in the contract! See the Leadership Contract pictured below.
Math Minute
Students are also tracking their mastery of the learning targets in this unit! You can follow along and check in with your students by using your own copy of our tracker. You can find it using this link.
Fifth graders are also using Khan Academy and Dreambox again this year to practice the skills they are learning in school. Please reach out to us to request their username and passwords.
What's Up in ELA?
While reading Wonder, we have been focusing on using a character's thoughts, words, and words to determine a character trait. A character trait is a word that can be used to describe a character's personality. We have also been working to see different character's perspectives on the same person, or experience. Additionally, we have been having some great discussion about our experiences and reactions to this amazing story!
