Mr. Corso's Weekly Update
April 11, 2021
Next Week is Spring Break! No School April 12-16
Mr. Corso's Weekly Principal's Update
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
As we approach Spring Break, when we would typically travel or gather with family and friends, your cooperation will help us to ensure that we can continue the reopening of our schools and avoid a spike in cases, similar to what we experienced after Winter Break, which forced us to temporarily close campuses. Important reminders for everyone are: to wear a mask in public, wash your hands, practice physical distancing wherever you go, and stay home if you’re feeling sick.
While fully vaccinated people can resume domestic travel and do not need to get tested before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel, California’s travel advisory is still in effect that provides recommendations for unvaccinated people to avoid nonessential travel. We ask that unvaccinated students who travel outside of California during Spring Break follow the recommended quarantine protocols when returning back to school. Also, be reminded that if you or your children exhibit any symptoms, please stay home, so we can protect the health of our students and staff and keep our schools open.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support to keep COVID-19 out of our schools. We look forward to seeing all of our students and staff back on campus. Please be safe, and enjoy this time of rest and relaxation with your family.
Our Cohort A and B students will have the opportunity to come 4 days a week starting April 19…
Starting After Spring Break…
Our Cohort A and B students will have the opportunity to come 4 days a week starting April 19…When we do combine cohorts, we will be keeping our present bell schedule. During lunch, students will be spread out on campus to increase social distancing. We are moving tables and tents to open up access for shade and seating throughout our campus.
- Monday 4/19: Start at 8am Homeroom plus Periods 1-3 Cohort A + Cohort B
- Tuesday 4/20: Start at 8am Homeroom plus Periods 4/5-7 Cohort A + Cohort B
- Wednesday 4/21: Start at 8am Homeroom plus Periods 1-3 Cohort A + Cohort B
- Thursday 4/22: Start at 8am Homeroom plus Periods 4/5-7 Cohort A + Cohort B
- Friday 4/23: Asynchronous Day
Fire Drill and Safety Training: Kudos to BMMS and your support of safety. We had two fire drills last week and they went very well this week. We also did a staff safety training reviewing our procedures if a danger is in our neighborhood or on our campus. Our students and staff did a wonderful job preparing for an emergency.
Finished Early?: Do some of our students finish their work before the period is over (wouldn’t that be great!)? Here is a doc we posted in our learning centers to help kids stay on task...LINK
Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Tuesday was National Librarian Day. Thank you Mrs. Chambers and Mrs. Alkema for all your support! We appreciate you!
Traffics will Increase April 19
We will have more families picking up their children at the same time once cohorts combine April 19. As you have seen, limited entry and exit points in our neighborhood cause a lot of congestion. Please remember not to block traffic that could affect our school buses and other cars from leaving our parking lot. See graphic below. Some suggestions to avoid frustration waiting in our parking lot are:
Wait 10 minutes after the bell to pick up your child. Flow into the lot at 1:35pm is much different than at 1:25pm.
If you feel comfortable, have your student walk safely a block and meet you in a designated spot to avoid the parking lot.
Vaping Presentation
Our Student Services Specialist Rosalinda Koch did a great job last night presenting on the dangers related to vaping. Here is a LINK to the presentation. Thank you Rosalinda for providing this important service for our BMMS families.
