Hello Maureen M. Welch Parents,
As expected, the children are so excited about Field Day tomorrow. The weather is going to cooperate, Mr. Weaver has everything ready to go, and it's going to be an awesome day for the students. In order to make the event a success, the staff and I will be promoting fair, safe and fun activities. With that stated, a focus on physical and emotional safety is paramount. Today, the children were reminded that face-painting will not be permitted for Field Day. With environmental allergies bothering eyes this week, the possibility of getting paint in the eyes is not worth the risk. In addition, please remind your children of the importance of drinking water and using sun screen.
To assist parents who are planning to attend, a schedule of events and the map of the fields can be found at the following links:
C.A.R.E.S. Coin Recipients for February
Congratulations to Olivia Catalina (Mrs. Young), Bobby Challender (Mrs. Grissell), Tyler Dobson (Mrs. Leahy), Oliver Adey (Mrs. Rosica), and Leah Slowinski (Mrs. McCollum). They were randomly selected from our group of students who earned C.A.R.E.S. tokens in the month of April. These children had their names announced at school this week, and they’ll have a Pretzel Party with me on May 22nd. Congratulations to these students and everyone who made good choices and earned a coin in April.
PTO Committee Chair Elections
The election for 2015-2016 Committee Chairs will take place at the PTO Meeting being held on Tuesday, May 26th at 7:00 pm in the library. Click HERE for a complete listing of the committees along with their descriptions. Please look them over and decide what might interest you for next year! You can sign up for any of these committees through our ONLINE FORM. The deadline for submissions is May 18th. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Patrizi at email@example.com.
Hands-Free Water Fountain
On Earth Day, the children donated their spare change and raised $560 toward the purchase of a water fountain for the school that allows students to refill water bottles "hands-free." This will be another way to encourage students to use refillable water bottles. We're not yet at our goal to purchase the water fountain, and we would greatly appreciate further donations from families so that we can get the fountain for our school. Thank you.
Blood Drive at MMW
The PTO will be hosting an American Red Cross blood drive in the school gymnasium on Monday, May 11th. The drive will be from 3pm-8pm. Appointments are preferred and can be made by signing up online at www.redcrossblood.org. You will need to enter Sponsor Code: Welch for our registration table of time slots.
Did you know that every day in the United States, roughly 44,000 pints of blood are needed? Every donation may help save up to three lives. Please consider donating. Tell your family, friends and neighbors. This is not just a Welch event, this is open to the entire community. Questions? Please email the PTO at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cradles to Crayons
The art teachers of Council Rock invite you to join us as they support children in need in our local communities. In partnership with the Cradles to Crayons Organization we will be collecting new art supplies and school supplies to inspire creativity in others. We ask that you donate items (crayons, markers, notebooks, pencils, craft kits, backpacks, etc) by placing them in bins located outside of Mrs. Cole's art room anytime before May 8th. This is a great opportunity for the children and students of Council Rock to give to others who are in need. To date, Cradles to Crayons has helped over 250,000 children. Let’s help to increase that number significantly!
