Research suggests that simply by greeting students at the classroom door each morning, teachers can have positive effects on students' attention throughout the day. Anthony Meals
Just a thought.....I read about a teacher who includes a student greeter at the classroom door each morning. This individual is responsible for greeting each classmate with a smile, handshake, or hug. I thought this was a nice idea - teaches students to be cordial and friendly to others.
