Boonville High School
November 5, 2021 Edition
Dear Boonville Pirate Families:
This week at BHS I've witnessed our first graduate from the Alternative School for 2021. We've seen students trying their own recipes in Foods I and II, labs teaching force and motion in Physical Science, and Advanced Biology students learning about genetics. Every day I get to see our students highly engaged in learning things for the future.
Recently we've seen an increase in students using their cell phones during class periods. We are trying really hard to promote a school community that values time on task and learning. Research supports reducing screen times for student mental health benefits. Our policy prioritizes student academic, physical, and emotional well-being. This week's video explains some of rationale in requesting students physically put away their phones in class. This is also true while they are doing homework at home.
Please remember students can use their phones between class periods and while at lunch. If you have a family emergency that requires immediate attention, please call the front office. We are more than willing to get a message to your student or to assist them in case of an emergency.
Tonight is a very busy night at BHS as our Pirate Football team takes on Blair Oaks in Districts. This is a community event with the Silver Pirate Band, Cheer team, Dance team all performing. Tonight you do need digital tickets to attend. Come help us form a SEA of BLUE to support all of our students.
Sincerely,
Ms. Fuemmeler

Toys for Tots Drive
Our BHS Key Club is once again sponsoring a Toys for Tots drive this holiday season. There is a box in the BHS Library Media Center for students to drop of toys if they so desire. We are hopeful to collect memorable items for students in the spirit of giving. Thank you for thoughtfully considering having your student make a donation. We are accepting donations through December 3.
