COACH K!!
kindness matters & power of our words
I'll be honest, there are several conversations I had with others that made me worried when I heard this. Be mindful of what you're talking about and where at all times. Especially in the office and staff rooms, you never know who is in the hallway. Can you imagine if a child overheard something unkind?
I am thankful that parent at least confided in one of us. Let's shift the narrative this week.
Supervision Reminder: EEEK!
- PE gets priority - don't be disrespectful to our amazing Coach K and the class/teacher enjoying PE! Before a class ever goes outside, an adult should be surveying what's already going on out there and deciding if it's an appropriate time to be outside.
- Classroom teachers are responsible for being present with students during extra play time. If you send a student teacher, please make sure they have been properly trained and you have modeled what it looks like. (roaming, checking on groups of students who are far away from adults, talking to kids, etc.)
Parking Lot Meeting?
CALLING ALL TALENTED STAFF MEMBERS!
Gimme a C!
Gimme an S!
What does that spell?
PANTHER CHEER SQUAD!
We need you (and/or your legs) for a simple but hysterical routine in this year’s talent show. Intrigued? Click on this link for a preview of our act and let’s get cheering!
Report Card Questions?
Report cards should be sent home on 2/28/20.
As you think about who to conference with, please think about:
- Has anyone had a shift in academics or behavior?
- Is there anyone who could be doing SO much better with a little motivation or support?
- Am I worried about anyone emotionally? Do my students all feel a sense of belonging and/or connection?
- Which parents do I never see on campus? Perhaps working families would feel excited to connect with me since they rarely get feedback on their child.
- Who is below grade level and I really need to bring their parents on board?
Also, please make sure you're parents know that they can and should call a conference any time they want to check in! It would be great to shift the perspective in the community on why we hold spring conferences. It should be for a range of reasons. Don't feel like you need to have a conference for all students with IEPs. Many students with IEPs get tons of attention. Maybe focus on those "under the radar" kiddos? Or a, "We don't need a conference unless you'd like one but I did want to tell you how much I enjoy having _____ in class because _____." The families will never forget it.
