iPad/Schoology Frustration Tips
One of the greatest frustrations students and parents have had with the iPad, that we've seen, is when a student submits an assignment on Schoology and it continues to appear missing. What happens is the student sometimes turns in the wrong assignment file to the assignment submission area. Please look to see if the teacher has typed a comment into the box of the assignment that says to resubmit the correct file with a matching name. This could be why an assignment is not yet graded when a student thinks they submitted it, It's because it was the wrong thing (or incomplete, like one of three pictures or something like that). Go check the comment box on "missing assignments" if they think they turned it in.
Another tip is to also turn on notifications for assignment comments in Schoology. We hope this helps!
Dakota County Library
We are happy to collaborate with the Dakota County Library this fall to provide our students with fine-free virtual library cards, giving them instant access to the vast resources available through the public library.
The student virtual library card program will launched September 27th. Dakota County Library has sent an activation email to students currently in grades 8-12. Once students set up their account, they can use the resources Dakota County Library has to offer, including online real-time one-to-one homework help, numerous research tools, eBooks, audiobooks, electronic magazines, print books and more. The many library resources available can be viewed here: https://www.co.dakota.mn.us/libraries/Using/StudentCards
Once students are in the Dakota County site, they will need to create an additional login to access eBooks on Hoopla Digital, Cloud Library and RB Digital platforms. There are also separate logins required for Mango and Transcript Language Learning platforms.
Directions are provided for everyone through the Media Center Schoology Group. I have it under Resources at the top. Just so you can be aware, students will need to access Campus to get their student ID number, or use their lanyard. Next, they will add 194 to the beginning of the number and link to the Dakota County Library website to create a PIN. It’s recommended to use the last 4 digits of their phone number.
The Virtual Student Library card will be a great asset for the students during this time of Hybrid and Distance Learning. Thanks for all your efforts and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Staff who are Dakota County residents can apply for a card by using this link or visiting their local library in person. If you already have a card, you will use it. Staff cards are not fine free.
Staff who are not Dakota County residents are encouraged to sign up using this form. A card will be sent to you through our building. It will take a few weeks to process.
FAQ
Are students in K-7 eligible for the program?
K-7 students and their families can apply for a regular library card online. It’s worth noting that fines can accrue on regular library cards. 8-12th grade students are the only students who will receive Dakota County Library Student Cards. The way the student card program works, and the resources it provides access to, are the best fit for students and curriculum in grades 8-12.
