Fall 2018 - 2019 Sports Information
Fall Sports are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 8th for the Fall 2018 season! Information about tryouts can be found on our Tryouts page. You can also find contact information for the coaches of specific sports there.
Please note that MCPS has transitioned to an ONLINE registration process for athletics. This was used in the Winter and Spring seasons during the 2017-2018 school year, but is new to the Fall season for Fall 2018.
Parents will need to register students online through the myMCPS Parent Portal. The Fall 2018 registration window will open on July 16th. Parents that need login information may contact Mr. Jared Fribush, Athletic Director. If you are new to MCPS in 2018-2019, please wait until after July 1st to contact Mr. Fribush for login information. If you are new to Blake, but not new to MCPS, you may contact your 2017-2018 school for login information prior to July 1st and Mr. Fribush after July 1st.
The MCPS memo on Fall 2018 online registration can be seen here.
Support the 2018 Give BACKpacks Campaign
MCPS needs your help to raise funds to purchase backpacks filled with school supplies for students in need. This is the sixth year for the Give BACKpacks initiative, which is sponsored by the Partnerships Unit in collaboration with the MCPS Educational Foundation, Inc. During the 2017–2018 campaign, 18,534 backpacks were provided to 82 schools and the International Admissions and Enrollment Office.
A $10 donation will provide a new backpack filled with school supplies to a student in need. Consider donating at the following giving levels to reach more students: $300, $1,500, $6,500, $25,000 or $50,000. You can direct your donation to a school of your choice through the campaign. Visit www.mcpsgivebackpacks.org to make a donation or to learn more about the campaign. If you have any questions, please contact the MCPS Partnerships Unit, at 301-217-5370.
Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours
Summer is a great time for students to become involved in service activities and earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Students can participate in a range of activities—working at a soup kitchen, cleaning up a local park, or collecting items for a clothing or food drive. All MCPS students need 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. Students can begin collecting those hours the summer before Grade 6.
