Counseling Corner
Hello CMS parents. Can you believe that Spring is almost here and we are now ¾ into our school year? That’s right, 4th quarter is upon us. As we head into the final stretch of our school year, we would like to remind you that CMS teachers and staff will continue to provide our students with every opportunity to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
Our genuine hope is that each and every one of our students will thrive in all areas! In supporting our students to achieve their ultimate best, we would like to continue partnering with you, our CMS families to help each and every student succeed. So, the question becomes…
How can we help each other to help our students?
Encourage and assist your student in developing personal accountability.
Encourage your student to meet all deadlines and avoid missing assignments. Missing assignments are a very large factor that contributes to poor grades. Once assignments are missing, it can be difficult to catch up!
Assist students with identifying, completing and submitting any missing assignments.
Regularly check your students' grades with them and have follow up discussions regarding what they will do to maintain or improve academically.
Provide consistent positive feedback when students are demonstrating personal improvement and accountability.
Assist students with the skill of self advocacy. Please encourage your students to ask questions when they do not understand something or need assistance in class.
Please check your emails regularly for any correspondence from teachers regarding your student’s progress.
Thank you for your partnership!

Athletic Updates
As we prepare for 4th quarter athletics I want to remind any athlete that is trying out for wrestling, boys basketball, or girls soccer to make sure you have your physical completed and the athletic packet completed before tryouts begin. You can turn the packets into the front office.
Tryouts will begin when we return from Spring Break, which is March 23rd. Tryouts consist of three days of player evaluations to determine team placement. Wrestling will not hold tryouts, but if you want to participate, all you need is your physical and sports packet completed. Wrestling practices and meets will take place at Combs High School. Combs school district will provide transportation to the high school at the end of the school day. The bus will leave CMS at approximately 4:05. On half days the bus will leave at 2:05 and practice will end around 4:30. Parents, you will need to pick your child up from the high school no later than 6:00 PM, and 4:30 on half days.
Anyone that is interested in joining the cheer team, there will be a meeting Wednesday the 3rd at 1:45 in the library. Coach Collins would like to meet with you to discuss expectations for this upcoming season. On March 4th there will be another cheer tryout after school for those who want to participate.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
