Important Reminders
- If you know your student will be absent please call the front office at 405-256-5250.
- Just a reminder, per the Mustang Public School Handbook, at the intermediate level we no longer have classroom birthday parties. We also cannot allow birthday snacks to be distributed in the cafeteria. We know this is a change from elementary school and we appreciate your support.
Attendance
All absences whether excused or unexcused apply to the count of chronic absenteeism. It is important to remember that family vacations and non-school sponsored activities can be excused by the parent(s)/guardian(s) however they would count toward chronic absenteeism.
Your support is key to your student’s success. If your student’s attendance becomes a concern you will receive a notice from the school. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us, Mrs. Giblet or Mr. Lebsack in the office.

How to help you student prepare for State Testing
State testing is coming in APRIL. The practice questions you see in the PSTG (Parent Student Teacher Guides) represent the types of questions and interactions your students will see when they take the Spring 2019 OSTP state assessments in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.
5th grade will take English Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Mathematics, and Science.
6th grade will take English Language Arts (Reading only) and Mathematics.
We will be doing ONLINE practice tests the week before Spring Break to expose students to the online format and practice questions.

Upcoming GRIT Assemblies--6th grade May 2 and May 16 --5th grade May 3 and May 17
We will recognize our April character trait (COURAGE) during the assemblies on May 2/3.
May's character trait is HONESTY. We will recognize these students on May 16/17.
We are so proud of how our students are showing GRIT throughout out our school!
MBI BoosterThon and Fun Run--- May 1-May 10
Parents! This year’s main Physical Education equipment fundraiser is the MBI Fun Run!
It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on May 1st. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we will celebrate at the Fun Run on Friday, May 10th.
Our big goal is to raise $6,000 for heart rate monitors and other needed Physical Education equipment.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they are teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. In addition, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run on May 10!
Thank you for your support!
Mr. Hasty and Mr. Ridgeway
