Convinced that an ever-worsening shortage of doctors threatens our state’s welfare, the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents has agreed to ask the 2020 Hawaiʻi State Legislature to begin an expansion of JABSOM to Maui. A campus for all ages: UH medical school inspires future healthcare careers
On any day you might find junior high school students learning here along with MD students, candidates for Master’s and PhD’s and post-doctoral researchers. Read about the Hawai’i Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and a twice monthly career and college success course for students, called the CANOE Academy, at UH Med Now.
Combination of MD student's clinical and language skills prove invaluable at first-aid tent
At the fourth largest marathon in the U.S., where nearly half of the entrants are tourists from Japan, UH medical student volunteer Wakako Horiuchi found that her language skills combined with the clinical skills she learned at JABSOM made it possible for her to give proper aid to injured runners who had difficulty expressing their needs in english. Gifts addressing needs: The first-ever donor fund to support a JABSOM Graduate Student Program
For the first-time ever, a donor has provided a solution and established a fund to support a Graduate Student Assistantship for a student in one of JABSOM’s five graduate programs, the Developmental and Reproductive Biology (DRB) Graduate Program. Dr. Kalani Brady is Top Doctor of the Year!
Continental Who's Who lists Dr. Brady as Top Doctor of the Year in the field of Medicine. Dr. Brady is Director of Faculty Affairs, Director of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Associate Professor of Native Hawaiian Health at the University of Hawaiʻi.
