Students have worked hard this year and have many skills to demonstrate on these two days. We are confident your students are well prepared and ready to give it 100%. A few tips to maximize your son and/or daughter(s) success are…
Students should arrive on time. Please do your best to make sure there are not any conflicts with out of school appointments on these days for your student.
Get a good night’s rest in order to feel alert and ready to focus.
Eat a healthy breakfast either at home or at school.
Have a positive send off for your student in the am. Students should feel supported by you as well as confident that they are prepared. We know some nerves are typical and healthy. Again we will assure students that all the hard work until this point of the year is their preparation.
We want to remind parents and students that on testing day all cell phones and/or electronics including smart watches must be turned in to teachers during the test for test security reasons.
Please note there may be slight changes to lunch schedules on these days.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our office at 972-947-9450.
Autism Awareness Coin Drive
Dear Prestwick Families and Friends,
We will be extending our annual fundraiser through April 13th. It is a coin drive in support of Autism Awareness, and the money we collect will be donated to the Dallas Autism Treatment Centre (ATC). This center focuses on changing lives and building futures. Their program is available for children of all ages and adults
The services include Education, Adult services, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), ATC therapy- ATC therapy is occupational, physical, speech and residential services.
Their residential service operates16 group homes in the Dallas area. ATC also promotes Community Awareness by participating in several informative events each year about Autism and the ATC
Students are invited to bring coins or bills to their classroom from Monday to Friday and put their donation into the collection buckets that will be placed in each grade level.
Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
If you have any questions please contact the school nurse, Julie Buchanan.
Prestwick LEarns - 2nd grade Poetry Cafe
The beauty of this unit was the personal connections to these learning topics students made as they created unique poetry. Options were provided for students to write about personal interest. The unit was culminated with a poetry "cafe" where students read aloud and shared their best work with loved ones in a cafe setting. As always we had excellent turn out and it was a highlight of my day watching proud faces and celebration of creativity. We definitely have future poetry authors all around us! Great job everyone.
PS- I often get asked the importance of Reading and Writing in STEM. My answer we are building well rounded literate and creative minds each day. YES we learn about language arts in a STEM setting.

Staff Spotlight
Howdy, Lobos!
PSA is excited to introduce our 7th grade Science teacher, Mrs. Lisa Stevens. Mrs. Stevens is from Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s in Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Biology. This is Mrs. Stevens tenth year of teaching and is certified in the areas of Life-Time K-8, Science K-8, English as Second Language, and Gifted and Talented.
What Mrs. Stevens enjoys about teaching Science is exposing minds to the fascinating world of science and how our world interacts and works with itself. “I want all my students to leave with an appreciation for how amazing our world is! The delicate balance that has to be just right so that we can all continue to live.” This June, Mrs. Stevens will be leading a group 8th graders who are interested in the field of marine biology to the Florida Keys for real-world experiences with the marine ecosystem. If you will be in 8th grade for the 2018-2019 school year, and are interested on hearing more about this trip for summer 2019, Mrs. Stevens is hosting an informational on April 12th here at PSA at 6:00pm.
Mrs. Stevens is married to her wonderful husband, Matt, of 23 years and they have three wonderful children that all attend Prestwick - Kyle, Drew, and Paige. In Mrs. Stevens’ free time, she enjoys reading fiction novels, watching movies, and creating fun memories with her family. In addition, Mrs. Stevens loves to sing and performs on Sundays along with her worship praise band.

LPGA Event @ Old American Golf Club
Local residents & businesses often ask us how they can get involved and make a positive difference in our schools. Here's a chance to give back to your community and directly impact kids' lives.
The Little Elm ISD Education Foundation provides grants to teachers and scholarships to graduating seniors thanks to the generosity of local citizens and businesses. The Foundation has been given the incredible opportunity to earn a substantial amount of money that will go directly back to LEISD teachers and students.
We need volunteers to help park cars at the upcoming LPGA Event at the Old American Golf Club on Monday, April 30 through Sunday, May 6. We need anyone age 16+ with a valid driver's license. If you or someone you know can spare some time on those dates it would greatly benefit the Foundation's efforts.
Please feel free to share this information in newsletters or other means to help spread the word. We need a lot of help to make this opportunity a reality. Please contact Dr. Tony Tipton at ttipton@littleelmisd.net, 903-239-3475 (cell) for more information or details.
