Hello RE/MAX Affiliates,
Great news!
I am excited to announce the acquisition of First, a tech company based in Durham, North Carolina, by RE/MAX Holdings, Inc.
This continues the ongoing technology transformation at RE/MAX. First has developed a mobile app that unlocks the value found in an agent’s personal network to help them generate more business.
This is cutting-edge tech. By using predictive analytics, the app analyzes an agent’s contacts and identifies anyone who’s likely to sell their home in the near future. With this information, an agent is able to more effectively reach out to the right people at the right time.
With a proven product already on the market, First has had a strong track record since its 2016 launch. Its signature app will be a great complement to our current tech offerings as we continue to move quickly on the booj rollout, the remax.com and mobile app launch, and the many other tech initiatives.
More information will be announced at the R4 Convention in Las Vegas. In the meantime, here are some resources on the product, information on First and what it all means for your business.

Do your Pre Flight Checklist
This is part 4 of 5 of our November Business Planning process. You should have your Life List, the review of your Business this YTD (year to date) and your Pre Business Planning Questionnaire done. Click on any of the links to get a copy.
There are a few questions on the Pre Business Planning Questionnaire that have a great deal of importance.
1. The first is trying to identify if you are truly committed to the business. Is there an amount of money that if you DON’T earn it you will leave the business?
2. Another is trying to see if you made plans and then did not complete them because of a lack of money?
3. And another is designed to help you figure out if you are in touch with your finances – for real!
Thought of the week:
You are creating the steps for a great 2020 right now!
How to Clear Your Mind to Be More Productive
Highly productive individuals often have habits that contribute to their productivity, and many of them point to a clear mind, which allows them to heighten their focus. If you’re interested in getting more done during the day, consider the following habits.
Do something you love. It may seem counterintuitive, but stopping your work to do something you adore can actually make you more productive. Take 15 minutes to play with your pets or kids or do a crossword puzzle. Grab coffee with a friend. Take an afternoon off to see a movie or go to an art exhibit. Freeing your mind from the struggle of daily work will clear space to focus later on.
Get outside. Fresh air (and, if you’re interested, exercise) can improve your mood and your focus. Take a break from work to go for a stroll, read a book on a bench or take a hike with your dog or your family.
Meditate. Those with a meditation practice have long touted its benefits on focus and overall productivity, so if you find mediation appealing, it may be time to start. If you’re not interested in meditating, you can still glean some of its benefits by taking five minutes to focus on deep breathing exercises. Try it before you start your work, or take a break in the middle of the day.
Be creative. You do not have to be artistically gifted to reap the benefits of creativity. Allowing yourself space to try something creative can improve your mood, overall wellbeing, problem-solving abilities and ability to focus. Of course, not all creativity has to be time-consuming or strenuous, like writing a novel. Puzzles are creative, as are coloring books, poetry or simple sketches.
Stretch. Similar to meditation, taking a five- to 10-minute stretch break during the day can reground you, make room for heightened focus, improve circulation and build flexibility and strength. You will return to your work with a clear mind, and a looser body.
Minding Your Momentum
“I would not waste my life in friction when it could be turned into momentum.”
Frances Willard,
(September 28, 1839 - February 17, 1898), American educator, temperance reformer, and women's suffragist.
Life is not easy. Nor would we want it to be. Arguably, it is the salt of struggle that enables the sweetness of success. But there are times when we "over-salt" our lives with needless friction, making moments in life a lot harder than they need to be.
With this in mind, I thought I'd share three ways you can prevent a certain amount of self-sabotage in your life:
1. Dial back your catastrophic thinking. Do you have a tendency to absorb life's little inconveniences and imagine them becoming enormous disasters? Is every cough potentially lung cancer? Every noise your car makes the sign of a major repair? Don't amplify your anxiety by preparing for the apocalypse every single day. Take things as they come and respond within reason.
2. Spare yourself a constant comparison. Ever felt good about your brand new Honda until you saw your neighbor driving the BMW M3? Keep your eye on your own happiness and you'll find you have a lot more of it every day. Aim to beat your personal best and be satisfied with the progress.
3. Don't imagine intent. Never assume ill will when something isn't going as well as you expected it to go. An unreturned phone call doesn't mean someone is ignoring you. If you're offended by something, consider first that the offense may be unintentional. When you ascribe intention, you make assumptions which can coil around and bite you.
Look for these bad habits, grow your awareness of them, and by avoiding them over time you will find yourself sailing much more smoothly. Don't forget the friction and you'll make momentum instead.

Market Update for November Now Available
5 Steps to Creative Real Estate Marketing
A new week is starting, and the year is coming to a close. It’s the perfect time to revamp your marketing strategy. Think about the week ahead and segment your marketing plan by day. This will help you keep organized and make your marketing more purposeful. Here are some ideas:
Mailing Monday
On Mondays, send out any flyers or other mailers to your sphere. These can feature current listing information, your recent solds, some general neighborhood market information, or even lifestyle-related content that your clients will find relatable. Some may say traditional mailers aren’t as effective as digital marketing, but it’s all about having a comprehensive plan. Supplementing your online presence with good, old-fashioned marketing methods ensures you reach your audience in a variety of ways.
Testimonial Tuesday
Reviews are everything. If you’ve gotten some great five-star reviews recently, leverage those in your marketing! Publish the reviews across multiple social platforms. And if you want to take this up a notch, interview some of those clients and post a video testimonial on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Everyone loves to see a success story.
Webinar Wednesday
This doesn’t have to be strictly a webinar, but get yourself out there by marketing yourself as the neighborhood expert. Either through webinar, podcast, live video or other format, help educate your audience on the market. They will find this extremely helpful, and using one of these innovative marketing methods is a great way to add some variety to your online presence.
Thank You Thursday
Don’t underestimate the power of handwritten thank you notes. Every Thursday, pick out a new batch of contacts from your sphere and craft a personalized message. You can either mail these out by themselves or with a small gift, or, even better, drop them off in person. Handwritten notes show your clients you care and that you continue to put work into the relationship even after a transaction has closed. This is how you create clients for life.
Feedback Friday
You’re not always at 100 percent. You’re human and you make mistakes. Keep celebrating your successes and your five-star reviews, but don’t forget about the element that can really help improve your business—constructive criticism. As part of your sphere follow-ups, make some calls and ask your clients for some honest feedback. Tell them you’d appreciate the good, the bad and the ugly (as respectfully as possible, of course). Sometimes people are afraid to speak up about a moment they weren’t completely happy with, especially if the overall experience was great, but learning about these little moments is how you can correct yourself so that your transactions going forward become even better for the consumer.
The one thing you should keep in mind when developing marketing strategies is this: It’s all about the consumer. If you keep their experience in mind at all times, you will develop a plan that helps boost your business and retain clients so that they purchase or sell with you again, and, most importantly, refer you to their friends and family.
