A message from Mrs. Rodriguez
January is School Board Appreciation month. We honor and celebrate all the hard work our Jarrell ISD school board does for our community and schools. Thank you to:
President, Crystal Phalen
Vice President, Jenny Arnold
Secretary, Tamara Dozier

I want to welcome our new JISD and Igo students! We had over 10 students enroll and attend last week. We anticipate more in the coming weeks. We look forward to building relationships with our new families.
This week we will honor students who go above and beyond in the characteristics of discipline and honesty for the Early Act First Knight Program. Each teacher will contact parents of the students selected for the award and communication details.
As we continue to settle into the new semester, I encourage you to set routines at home that will set your child up for success at school.
Does your child have a routine when they get home from school to rest and play?
Does your child have a consistent space at home for reading and homework practice?
Do you encourage healthy eating habits, especially for breakfast? All students at Igo have the opportunity to eat a free breakfast each morning.
Do you have a set time for your child to wake up, get ready, and leave the house to be on time for school at 7:30 AM? There are many parents in the drop off line at 7:30 or after which means your child is rushing in the building to make it to class and begin morning meeting. This does not create a smooth start to the day. The teacher and rest of the class are already settled and engaged in the morning meeting discussions.
I challenge you to leave 5 minutes earlier to avoid traffic and lines.
I want to emphasize reading at home for all students. It is important students have a choice in their leisure reading. Do you have a book you read together? You reading out loud to your child will have a great impact on their literacy. Please reach out to our librarian, Mrs. Jarrett, if you need books at home, or your child's teacher. They can provide just the right books for your child's reading level, even paper copies that stay at home.
Let's make it a great week at Igo!
