Early October Update

Elginburg & District Public School

A huge THANK YOU to all of the parents who came out for our annual Meet the Teacher night. It was great to meet everyone! Our Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. We made over $3000 in sales, which means a lot of new, current and engaging books for our school library.

A special Thank You to Mrs. Robinson, for donating her time to help set up, run, and work at, the book fair.

We will have another Book Fair in the spring! Happy reading, Elginburg!

Fresh From the Farm

Our Fresh From the Farm fundraiser will be wrapping up early next week! Our order will be placed on October 10th. Buy fresh potatoes, onions and carrots or a bundle of apples! If you lost your form, send in a note with your child and we will give you another one. Our school receives 40% of the sales and we help Ontario Farmers.

We hope to raise enough money to buy a few new Chromebooks for our classrooms.

Head Lice - We have confirmed cases

Please check periodically for head lice. Spending 5 minutes a week checking your family (both male and female) for head lice will help control the spread through your family, friends and through our school. If you find signs of head lice or nits, please contact the main office so that the appropriate steps can be taken. A letter will be sent home with the students in the classes affected asking families to please check their children. More information you can call KFL&A Public Health for more information 613-549-1232.

Head Lice Tip: After you shampoo your child, you must remove all of the nits from the hair to ensure they don't hatch.

Terry Fox Success!

After several changes in date due to weather and scheduling the Police horse, we ran a successful Terry Fox Event on Tuesday, October 1st.

We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $1000 this year! Our goal was $725 and we sure beat that!

Mrs. Guild started the walk with a lovely speech that celebrated cancer survivors and recognized how cancer has affected so many of us in our school. Our school sincerely hopes that our shared donations will help find a cure for this horrible disease.

Our school did so well.... pies will fly on Thursday afternoon!
