News from Mr. DeSana
Big news at Holly Elementary!
After nearly 30 years working for Holly Area Schools at Holly Elementary, Mrs. Bartlett is retiring! Mrs. Bartlett has made a lasting impact on Holly Elementary and has impacted the lives of countless students and families. No amount of gratitude can express how much she means to our students, staff, and community. As the school year end nears, we will share details of how we will celebrate Mrs. Bartlett. She is looking forward to spending time with her family and pursuing her hobbies.
M-STEP begins
On April 23rd through May 1st our 5th graders will be taking the M-STEP state assessment. A letter will be sent home for students in third through fifth grade the week before students begin testing. The letter will contain details specific to your child's testing. Please encourage your child by letting them know that they should feel good if they have given their best effort. I will be speaking to all classes taking the assessment to let them know what they can expect from the test. The testing windows for 3rd and 4th grade can be found below.
4th grade May 15 & 16
3rd Grade May 21 & 22
TikTok App
TikTok app safety (formerly Musically) - What Parents Need To Know
I read an article about the popular app TikTok that I wanted to share with parents. The brief article does a nice job explaining what the app does and what parents need to look out for. You can find the article by clicking here.
A Note from Superintendent Roper
Dear Students, Staff, and Parents of Holly Area Schools,
Please see the attached Flyer and Letter announcing our Professional Trades and Apprenticeship Open House. This event was originally scheduled for January 30th, but was cancelled during the State of Emergency days. After working with the trades organizations, we have been able to reschedule the event for Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:00 pm at Holly High School. We look forward to this special event to further introduce our Holly Students to high-demand, high-wage careers in the skilled trades.
Thank you,
Scott M. Roper, Superintendent

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month
Why do we plant a Pinwheel Garden?
More than just an awareness campaign, the Pinwheel is the symbol of child abuse prevention. The pinwheel connotes whimsy and childlike notions. In essence, it has come to serve as the physical embodiment, or reminder, of the happy, healthy, and carefree childhoods all children deserve!
Please see the attached flyer for more information. Flyer

Families can help in many ways:
